The video says it's an FZR250R 3LN5.

Can't believe the guy just parks it up at the end in an easily identifiable place. If the police were interested it'd be a simple matter to stroll down and have a look.

The description translated, poorly by google, says

"Uploaded on 19 Feb 2012
It is a video, such as the sample of dangerous riding bike
"

Where did you get European from that anyway?

I guess I'm an arsehole Smile Not quite as bad as this, but...

There's a lot of noise in the video, but he's not going very fast. The filtering is fairly aggressive on the dual carriageways, and at that pace and density of traffic (i.e. not very dense), you'll get people swerving between lanes and one day you'll hit one. IMO. Denser traffic is safer to filter through because drivers know they can't just swing across.

I question that. The other vehicles are probably doing the standard 80kmh and he's closing in and going past them like they're standing still. Twice the speed or more? And to put the speed in context, this is recorded not in the fast lane of a gently curving motorway but in one of those snaking urban expressways, essentially an elevated concrete corridor with zero run-off, just walls on either side. Scarey to ride in at the best of times, horrific in a crash.

Putting absolute speed aside, consider the relative delta. If somebody decides to suddenly change lanes they'll never see him in time. And even in that sort of traffic, they do and they will change lanes without warning.

This comment from below the video sums it up for me:
"いつ死んでもおかしくないね むしろ死にたいのかもね"
"He could die any time or rather maybe he wants to die"

Looks a bit like my commute. Don't think he was going that fast really, just seems like it because he was moving the bike around alot and revving the tits off of a little 250.

Those FZR250s aren't slow by any means, I've got a friend with an imported one.

They rev happily to 18,000 rpm and produce 33kw which is (old) 2yr restricted licence power. They'll do easily over 100 which is plenty fast enough to kill you.

Which is very slow, not even 50mph - on the open road you'll think someone is dawdling at that pace.

I do think he's going a little bit too fast, a bit too close to the vehicles, not enough time for them to clock him (though the screaming engine probably helps), and not enough safety buffer should they change lane a little bit quickly, never mind swerve suddenly.

Here's a FZR250R speedo:
https://raresportbikesforsale.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/FZR250R_4.jpg

Most of the time he's between 100kmh and 140kmh. I don't think he exceeded 140kmh, but I don't have time to watch the whole video to confirm. That's not fast IMO, though of course it is relative. And of course the speedo will be overreading.

Oh, so just like the A12 outside my house, along the east edge of Victoria Park - the same one I ride and filter on every weekend, yes? Smile

That was my point - the traffic shown is not dense, not enough to stop people doing sudden lane changes. Like I said, keep this up in this kind of traffic and one eventually gets hit.

I got bored after a minute where it seemed like he just put it in 4th gear and just revved from there. He didn't change gear for ages!

Can't see a problem with it myself. I love aggressive filtering, and this guy didn't really do anything stupid, he was also able to spot the car changing lane and waited until he was clear to pass before speeding up again.

That is a normal commute...

I dread to think what you would do if you was riding with me down here... Straights are "see how fast you can get it before that corner" whilst overtaking on the wrong side of the road...
