Hello i have a cagiva w8, with exhaust issues. i will be doing a temp fix as i want to make/get a race exhaust for it. this brings me to the question, the bike is hard to get parts for i can't even find a stock exhaust for it, let alone a race one. I would like advice on making one or a place that will do it for me. because the bike is getting rare, company's don't make them. I want it to be lightweight and with luck increase low end power.

Hi

2 stroke exhaust is fairly difficult to design. Chances of someone managing to knock up a one off exhaust that works well are slim.

All the best

Keith

Very hard bike to find parts for now I think. The exhaust looks the same as the Supercity 125 one, and they are like gold dust. Giannelli used to make a system for the Supercity back in the day, but they don't last well, and havn't made pipes for them for a long time now.

A few companies will make you a one off expansion chamber to fit your bike, but they will need the complete bike or an old pipe to replicate as a jig. Many performance exhaust firms will want to know a lot of information about the engine specs like port timing/area's blow down period, compression, squish clearances etc. They need this kind of info if they are going to feed it into a program to calculate the dimensions for a new pipe.

I'd try Mick Abbey and Gibson exhausts first, as they might do a pipe for you based on the old one, or just from having the bike to fit it up on.

Firms like Blue Haze, Performance fabrications, TDR, Barry Dawson etc can make one off performance pipes if you can give them the info they will need. It won't be cheap though!

Just a thought, but if your desperate for a pipe and cant repair the old one or find a W8 pipe, then I'd be tempted to look at other 125cc bikes that have similar routed exhausts on the LHS, and see if you can modify one to fit your bike as an alternative to getting a pipe made.

Keep looking for a standard one! I would suspect that without a lot of time and effort from someone who really knows what they are doing with 2 stroke exhausts (which isn't likely to be cheap) an increase in power is unlikely.

All the best
