I dont have a proper telly but saw this on iplayer one night
and find myself fascinated by it and eagerly await each episode

Not sure why
I dont/cant sew unless its a button and any technique I might have
would suit a potato sack at best, but its compulsive viewing for me.

Worry not, I have no desire to mince about in satin blouses or tailored slacks,
I just find the workmanship and processes very interesting.

I'm generally interested in people being good at Stuff, regardless of the Stuff.

Caveat, as long as they just get on with it don't make too much of a fuss, like PRAISE THA LORRRRD! athletes tend to, or over-egg it like they've started to do on $PERIOD Farm.

I'm looking forward to the Great British misunderstanding of the word 'Great' in the name Great Britain. Should be good.

I'd still appreciate it, but she does add a certain something. Specifically, the thought that she would get it, and love it, and demand more, one at a time or all at once. Shifty

Yes, it is strangely addictive (the sewing bit, I mean), but you can't beat a bit of Claudia.

However much you'd like to.

The only benefit of this thread is that it is currently showing advertisements for satin ribbon along the bottom.
I always need moar ribbons for my hair.

Watched it again last night and realised
that behind the patterns, fashion and frills, its actually engineering and technology which is why I find it so interesting.

Maybe 'real bikers' will scoff but I've never had much time for real bikers and puerile shallow thinkers

Unless you live/ride stark bollock naked and sit on a bare frame
and never use a bike cover this underlying engineering and technology is as much a part of your life as any other.

I tried making a neck tube last year out of red and yellow silk. Screwed up not realising it would need to stretch to get over my head, ended up with a very odd hat Sad
on the upside im a whizz at doing a very neat french seam Smile

I have no shame.

I got an electric sewing machine from freecycle with the
idea of making my own seat cover.
Seemed like a good idea at the time but soon found it
aint as easy as it looks and ended up giving it to someone who
could make better use of it.

Well I bought the Telegraph last weekend and so far, from the free sewing magazine, I have made one dress, 3 tops and a skirt. I have also this week put a new vinyl cover on a bike seat and sewn braces on a pair of waterproof bike trousers Smile

Good effort! How neats the seat finish?

I've found the sewing bee quite tolerable.
No surprise at an all female final Rolling Eyes.

Anyone see that hair program after on BBC3? That ain't bad either. The younger lad on that looked like he was going to start wailing halfway through.
