Hi,
I was just wondering if the yellow average speed check cameras can catch a bike speeding as they are forward facing cameras?

I am unsure if the cameras on the other side of the road can get you.

Cheers

I'd gamble your license that forward facing cameras only capture traffic on their side of the road.

Just watch out for a GATSO or copmobile waiting at the end of the controlled speed area to catch folk belting away from it.

No they can't.

But a word of caution, a few persistent riders have been identified by their gear / helmet / colour scheme etc and prosecuted in this way.

The ones on the other side of the road can't see you, notice how there's a separate camera for each lane?

I generally go through just slightly quicker than the traffic, you can still get pulled by the plod.

Any evidence of this on the SPECS average speed cameras? I didn't think the cameras could even "see" motorbikes, as their front cross section was too small, and there's no plate for the camera to look for.

I thought this too. No plate, nothing even registers on the system.

I don't think the average cameras even take a picture, they just read your plate by text recognition.

Not average speed cameras per se. Worth being mindful though if caught taking the piss etc etc. Not above plod to waste tens of thousands and go hell for leather to get you.

So you've cited two examples, both of what are static Truvelo cameras, which are completely different to how average speed cameras work.

Do you know if the average speed cameras can even recognise motorcycles?

Couldn't begin to guess if they do or not.

Although the stories demonstrate the length plod will go to for a tug, advising caution about flying through them, irrespective if they can detect you or not.

Well how are the rozzers going to track you down if the cameras don't know you're razzing through them?

And those stories more show the lengths the police will go to catch people that are obviously taking the piss out of them.

Personally I think that if you see an oncoming motorcycle with a "missing" front number plate, you should ram it off the road BECAUSE CHILDREN.

So don't obviously take the piss = no problem Thumbs Up

SO razz through them, as from googling it would appear they use OCR on your front number plates on the first set, and photograph on the second if the OCR from the second camera matches the first AND it thinks your speeding.

No plate = no OCR entry at the first camera, so no photo at the second.

It's that sort of slap dash journalism that makes me sad. Sad

Some of these average speed cams also have camera's on the other side looking at the back of cars etc.

Noticed the DVLA on the York bypass yesterday doing a licence check.

Sign on rear of car stating check ( no camera).... Camera was at the front of the car picking up your rear number plate Embarassed
