New boot recommendations - high-leg, clasps & waterproof

I'm currently wearing a pair of RST Paragon I got second-hand from eBay. I've been happy with them but the Velcro is on the way out. So I'm considering clasps as I reckon a decent clasp is less likely to go wrong, or at least be easier to fix.
Because I'm tall, my waterproofs don't come down enough over the boot and so lets the water in. I could get longer waterproofs but it's difficult enough in my shape so a taller boot (17-18" maybe?) interests me. Waterproof for this reason...
I realise this sounds a lot like a waterproof off-road boot, hence I've been eyeing up so-called 'adventure boots'. This months Ride has cemented this idea somewhat.
Use is mostly all-weather commuting. Budget under £250 if possible, but I'd rather buy decent than buy twice. Would much prefer them to be comfortable to walk in too.

-Are clasps fiddly or more difficult than zip and Velcro? Anyway to get some more life out of the Velcro?

-Anyone got any views on:
Sidi Courier (are Sidi Discovery Rain the same/similar?)
TCX Track Evo WP
TCX Infinity Gore-Tex
Other suggestions welcome.

I'm not set on this style so guidance appreciated!

Sticky tape to get the loose fluff off, then a stiff toothbrush or wire pet-brush. I'ma go do my jacket cuffs now, like the dandy that I am.

I'd do as Roger suggested first may well fix 'em

I've had two clasp boots - sidi vortices sqeaked n' creeked horrifically although nice boots. Alpinstar SMXs were very good albeit a bit robotic and bulky for walking anywhere in - one of the clasps on the SMX's did partially break though and would only click and lock at certain points on the tab.

I'd actually prefer zip and velcro personally overall. Got a pair of 'Black' WP boots off ghostbikes a couple of months. Seem very sturdy and only 60 quid new

The TCX Infinity's have Velcro up the top too, I had a pair when they were Oxtar Infinity.

There is a fair bit of adjustability in the clasps.

They aren't the most comfortable to spend all day in as bending of the foot is limited.

I ended up selling mine for more than I paid originally and buying a pair of Hein Gericke ones that were basically the same.

Thanks for the replies and feedback - I would definitely like to get some more life out of these but I want to consider what's next before it's massively urgent.

Reading around about the Sidi waterproofing, it sounds like it needs sealing with Shoe Goo or similar around the stitching to sort that out. Not ideal to have to do that to a new boot but if that's the main problem with an otherwise good product then it's still worth looking at. Probably best I don't go and try any on yet as that always gets expensive!

I have a pair of the TCX Infinity boots, probably put about 3000 miles on them so far. There is a knack to getting them on, but i wear them to work everyday and now i can put them on quick as anything, they are confidence inspiring and feel beefy, but i still get plenty of feel through them, definitely waterproof. After a while they will loosen up from the initial stiff feeling and they are very grippy on the soles! Have a tread like a car tyre

For the price i think they are a very decent boot!

I've got a pair of Sidi Couriers, and they're great. I've not had any leaking issues, admittedly they're heavy, but they are comfortable and make you feel like you can kick holes in cars.

I had the same thoughts after Mays Ride magazine with its couple of pages on adventure boots.
Interesting and tempted me to get some, maybe, for next winter.

Held Marvins £130 ish. Im happy with mine had them for a few thousand miles over winter and my feet are toasty and dry. A bit of waterproofing wax solves any squeekyness.
