I'd say RST is a good alternative to the likes of Alpinestar and Dainese if you haven't got that sort of money.

If you are going to J&S take a look at the IXS leathers, I have a 2 piece which has been excellent and I was looking at the 1 piece the other day which I thought looked the part. Plenty of racers are using them aswell which says something.

Thumbs Up

I've got the Tractech one piece and it's an awesome bit of kit for the price. The more expensive Pro Series one piece is even better but it's £500 iirc.

Steer away from the Tractech gloves and boots as they are a bit pants but the Pro Series gloves are astonishing,

I wasn't impressed by my RST gloves so I'd be hesitant.

My berik suit has been top notch though. I must've had 30x >45mph crashes on it and it's still going strong. Thumbs Up

I have the RST slice two piece and it's nice, but it's not up to the best standards of leathers. I think it would survive a couple of crashes maybe but not loads.

My Crowtrees are much better made... but then I guess they would be.

If you're riding on track with any sort of commitment I'd get at least the pro series. I completely destroyed a cheaper set of RST leathers in one off and it was only a knox back protector that saved my skin. That was a few years ago so maybe they have improved them, doubtful though for 300.

My last two suits have been RST one pieces and they're great, very good value too - one of them survived one crash without too much damage.

If you're expecting to be regularly ditching the bike on track they may not live long though Razz

My BKS didnt survive my last crash which I found quite surprising?

Just from trying on the RST it seemed to be of better quality?!

Time will tell..

I've got an RST Tractech R which is brilliant.

Seems to be as good quality as you'd need.

Removable CE back protector, it's a level one but comfortable and soft foam, don't even notice it. A firmer level 2 could be stuck in there though.

A lot of BSB riders wear RST suits so they must be pretty good, I dare say BSB riders could afford better if they wanted to. Although they're more likely to be custom fitted ones, but there are support series riders (Supersport, Superstock, Triple Challenge etc) who wear off the peg ones. If they're good enough for them...

Would they not be wearing them because of sponsorship... not sure but just a thought

Don't get confused between RST's BSB worn suits and their off the peg replicas. The suits worn by those racing BSB are individually hand made from thicker leather. I think the off the peg stuff is 1.2mm at its thickest where as the pro stuff is 2mm+.

I have RST's Razor two piece and whilst it is a comfortable suit I wouldn't want to come off at motorway speeds as the leather a just too thin. Will be down to skin in no time. Will have to do me though until I can afford a set of proper handmade BKS (not Frank Thomas BKS rubbish) leathers.

BSB probably, less likely in the support series.

I know but there are racers in other series including the BSB support series who wear off the peg suits.

I wear RST Pro series 2 one piece.

Its brilliant and i crash tested it at 90mph on concrete. Held up perfect. I'll be buying a new set over summer.

I agree about their gloves, absolutely terrible quality. Mine started to fall apart within weeks. The stitching started to come undone, the velcro stopped sticking and the rubber protectors on the knuckles started to fall off.

I do however own a two piece RST Tractech leather suit and I don't have any complaints regarding them. In fact they seem pretty good value for money. I've not tried crashing in them though, so don't know how well they'll hold up if I do.
