Well just looked down my road and seen a gorgeously large patch of ice round the corner.

Won't be taking the bike today! I'll get Dad to give me a lift - he's going my way anyway!!

Go careful out there today if you are riding!

I was out riding at 5am in london, was out for half an hour, and actually noticed a temp drop in that time, esp. further out from the town centre.
Turned a corner, up a national speed limit for 30 secs, and suddenly my mirrors and visor misted up in a flash!

Slightly hairy to say the least!

took bike to work this morning (through central london), first time out since November.
I rode pretty badly I thought, very cautious of ice etc.
Sad
I'm not a fast rider but always try to ride smoothly. didn't this morning.

Just need to shake the cobwebs out I think, and forget about the off. Confused

I also took the bike to work today, having discovered my car MOT ran out a little earlier than I thought it did Doh! and I was riding like a pudding. Cold damp road with a nice trail of diesel from my house all the way to the A40, frost on the ground and freezing cold hands. Reminded me why I bought a car. Rolling Eyes

Well the bike ran like shit again this morning, when I got off the motorway after cruising at 60~65mph it was just bogging down at low revs etc, even stalled. Rode her a bit harder home, 15k Twisted Evil didnt bog down then. Razz

Do you leave the bike long enough to warm up properly? I found my ZXR took about 10 mins idling to warm up properly and ran perfectly, it hated being cold, ZXR400's tend to and they suffer from carb icing too.. The vent things down into the tank don't help either, you should take the hoses off and gaffa tape over the two holes in the tank flap plastic in winter, you might find the bike runs a bit better.

Well it was warm-ish. I just took it easy down the motorway and the needle went back into the blue. Shocked Carb icing.. what will that do?

Bike will be hard to start and will keep cutting out, also happens whilst riding, bike will just cut out and not restart for a few minutes. Theres prob more to it than that but that's all I know...

Well, I rode to work for the first time in ages today and it was great! I'd forgotten how much quicker bikes are than cars, not only in the sense of travelling between traffic, but also the sheer power etc.

I didn't exactly go for it, but it cheered me up no end! The only downside was I was overtaken by a scooter who decided to undercut me by turning left using the right hand lane of a roundabout.

However a few hundred yards down the road the beparka'd "I like to put my feet on the pillion pegs and wear a tracksuit and trainers whilst riding" scooter boi got pulled over by a traffic car! Karma

Remove the air hoses and duct tape over the holes in the tank flap, only for winter...

And leave the choke on for a good while then leave it to idle for a short while until it's up to temperature and you should have less problems. Worked for me and a good few on the ZXR boards anyway

It was only the other week or so you were saying how you didn't like them and wanted to know if the tank plastic bit could be filled and painted over so they weren't there anymore Razz

You can put fuel stabiliser in there, it might help a bit apparently.
