So, there I was, putting the carb back on the bike, all done and dusted until it's time for the fuel line to go back on - and the inline filter snaps. So now I have two halves of fuel line (one half which is splitting anyway) that are too short to use.

I've got a number of surgical suction probe kits :-

and the tubing fits. Anyone know if surgical tubing like this is OK with petrol, or will I end up with sticky goo being sucked into my freshly cleaned carb as it dissolves?

No way of knowing without trying it, might be safer to just get some proper hose in, carbs full of melted medical hose may be a tad annoying.

Just got back from the shop, didn't have the 6mm diameter so bought the 5mm and will bore it out. Until then I can use a bit of biro or something as a link pipe for the two halves I have, but it would still be nice to know if the aforementioned surgical tubing is usable or not.

Hose from a catheter bag seems to be petrol proof.

It would *probabally* be OK for a short while at least but I would imagine it would degrade fairl quickly.

to my mind, given how cheap and easily obtainable fuel hose is its just not worth it.
