Can anyone recommend a decent pump? 😳 ooh err missus

I'm sick fed up of the ones near me being out of order, hassle taking off gloves parking up etc. Was thinking of getting a compressor. Then see there is loads on amazon etc hand pumps with guage (which I have, somewhere )

What do you guys use? I see you are supposed to check pressure once a week, I defo don't but I will now.

Just wondering what the norm is....

one of these cos I carry it on the bike as part of puncture repair & didn`t want anything expensive.

but I got it from home bargains cos it was less than half the price

Cheers copycat, only thing that's putting me off the compressor is that they need cigarette lighter, car is parked on the road away from bike

Any old cheap footpump will do.

What you want is a decent digital tyre pressure gauge to make sure the pressures are correct. Doesn't matter how you get the air in as long as it's got the right ammount.

Gauges on those cheap compressors are not very accurate.

it reads 8-12 psi over true pressure on mine .. but its consistent..

not that I would worry if I was stuck @ the side of the road wit a flat..
for £4 worth a punt.

I have one of those battery optimiser charger things fitted, I put a connector on the compressor power lead so I can plug it into the connector on the bike.. you must run the engine when usin it cos it flattens the battery quick.

Use a cheap foot pump off ebay, cost less than a fiver - the 'gauge' might as well not be on there as its not only inaccurate but seems to be sticky at times and doesn't even alter as you pump.

Doesn't take long to get it right with a few double-checks using a digital gauge though. Got mine for about ten quid IIRC from halfrauds.

My dad's got one of these

https://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_178303_langId_-1_categoryId_273923

Use it all the time for my car and bike Laughing

Has lasted over 5 years of constant abuse, and also I seemed to go through foot pumps quite a lot, eventually the hosing on the cheaper ones just break and they become useless.

I recommend getting a stand and pump one over a foot pump Thumbs Up

There's one on there for a fiver Laughing

Might be best having a look on ebay and getting one for 10-25 quid though.

Oh and a little digital guage aswell, ebay Thumbs Up

Agree with Bikertomm

I've used Joe Blow pumps for years on cars and bikes and never been let down. Give it a google though as can be found for reasonable money.

Joe certainly knows how to Blow! Wink

I used one of these at the weekend for my bike.
Digital so stops when dialled in pressure reached.
Checked with one of the metal pen type gauges and they agreed.

Ring Automotive RAC600 12V Digital Air Compressor Including Storage Bag

I'm sure other sellers/prices are available.
Picked mine up from a trader at a Sunday market.

I ended up topping up with my bontrager cycle pump - they needed it for sure and have ordered a tire pressure device off amazon as I'm sure they are overinflated now - they feel a lot better anyway. Don't want to be told my Tyres too flat at mod 1 Tom. Btw I use Tucano Urbano muffs, I take it I can use these during test?

Also, be careful how you store one of these pumps. I dutifully put mine back in the box after each use and I ended up damaging the hose at base point from folding the hose into the box...grrr. Might have survived if I hadn't put it back in the box time and time again. Rolling Eyes

A decent bicycle track-pump will do the job really nicely.
