sprocket bearing

Hey im new to all this I have a lexmoto Xtrs125 was getting a squealing and knocking noises. On the way to work so took my wheel off and the bearing in my sprocket fell apart with the spacer stuck to the inside of the old bearing and the outside stuck to the sprocket hub im abit stuck iv tried prying it and using wd40 but no.budge also I brought some bearings iv got are for my rear wheel for my specific bike but they look just minutly to big any help would be much appreciated thank you

Ok, so you have the carrier spacer stuck in the inner race, and the outer race stuck in the carrier. Is that right?

Do you have a barbecue? If so, get it lit and strip the sprocket off the carrier, then get all the crud scraped & washed off. Put the carrier on the barbecue with the stuck bearing race underneath. When the carrier is piping hot the bearing with fall out because the carrier will expand a lot more than the bearing race. You have to watch it so you don't melt the carrier (aluminium alloy melts at any temp above 450deg C) and you might have to tap it a bit, but make sure you're wearing over gloves if you're going to pick it up hot. You can do the same with a kitchen oven on it's highest setting but it'll probably fill the house with smoke. If you have a hot-air paint stripper, you might have some luck with that.

Another option if you have a welder is to run a bead of weld around the stuck race that's in the carrier and it'll shrink in diameter then fall out.

You should be able to knock the spacer out of the inner race with a hammer and drift. Otherwise, cut the bearing race off with an angle grinder. It won't hurt the spacer if it picks up a few grinder marks but you don't want any burrs on the seating face.

Cut it one side and it might spring open. If not, part-cut it on the opposite side and it'll prise apart.

Got the centre part seperated but this outer ring is becoming the bane of my existance tried heating it but still won't budge also these bearings.iv got are the only rear wheel bearings for my bike serched by make and model but they look just a a minutest bit to big like looked back on the site there's is no others for the rear wheel and non sprocket specific

Hi

The bearing will be a standard size. It will normally be etched on the bearing, but that might not be readable. Measure the inner diameter, outer diameter and the thickness and then you should be able to easily source one.

Nar it crumbled on as I tool it.off on gravel so IV learnt from that now -_- ok ill have a measure but even on the site all measurments are the same i know its gotta be a tight fit but jeez

On a good note I finally got it out bad note is I don't think this bearing is right hahah I do have a photo but I can't directly put it on here id need to put it on the pc first well for my first time doing anything on a bike its been a pain in the backside haha thank you again guys PS is there a diffrence in wheel bearing and socket bearing ?

Would expect the clearance would be the same, so just a different size bearing normally. Note a bearing will be something like 6302 2RS, where 6302 is a code which gives the size and 2RS means 2 rubber seals.

Thank you yes mine are 42mm x15mm but I took out a 40mmx17mm bit annoyed as the lexator site don't even stock the carrier bearing so this was doomed from the start im going to try local garage tomorrow and hope they Carrie the size I need
