I ran out of fuel a few days ago (dealer left it on reserve and I never checked) - since then, I've noticed that, when the bike is on its side stand, fuel is coming out of somewhere around the carb.

A bit of research suggests that the most likely culprit is a bit of crap from the dregs of the tank making its way into the float, causing it to overflow. I'm still in warranty, but I don't particularly fancy being off the road while the dealer sorts it.

I'm thinking that if it is just a bit of crap in there, maybe I can flush it out by turning the fuel off and letting it run dry again, then turn the tap back on to pump it through. Is that likely to a) work, and b) do any harm?

Check the float valves. You've probably pulled some crap though causing one of them to stick. If it's in warranty then let the dealer do it. Thumbs Up

Thanks. I tried running the carbs dry a couple of times, and it didn't help, so it's booked in for the dealer to sort.
