i'm going to have to be very careful where i leave it as i think it's prob one of the most desirable bikes for a thief to steel .

thats it insured now , i'm just waiting for the dealer to email me back to say its registered with the dvla now .

Personally, I'd start with off-road, which is generally gentler on the bike overall - presuming you're not entering an enduro, anyway.

Buy some of these before riding on the dirt

https://www.racefx.co.uk/product-details.asp?productID=5042&CatID=247&ParentID=48&Submenu=1&Depth=1

They will stop dirt and water from getting inside the tyre and causing corrosion. They did not come as standard on my KTM enduro and are a worthwhile modification.

Nice bike btw. There is something nice about buying brand new as I had done with my 450.

Sexy bike!

I'd love a gas gas, more so than the equivalent KTM.

What's your previous experience with dirt bikes?

Presuming it's got decent tyres on, they're not ideal for road use.

If they're new tyres, also; you're going to be wearing the best bits off them on the road!

I foolishly ended up riding 15 miles or so on the (admittedly very soft) new rear sand tyre around Weston before the race and had managed to take the bite off significantly. Did beat a 675 in the traffic light GP, however.

(Was trying to avoid sitting in many-hour traffic jams in a large lorry, then finding somewhere to park when everyone else is doing the same.)

Mud and snow - really not designed for road use, so will certainly be bumpy.

If it was me and I was intending to use it on the road...
a) I'd just get cheap more appropriate bike to use on the road.
b) At least stick some road biased tyres on, so as not to knackerd the dirt ones and to get better grip etc.

What's wrong the stock ones? That's a lot of money, even SM wheels are cheaper than that with tyres, sprockets & discs.

i know they don't have much grip on the road & will wear away fast .

i took my time on the corners as the tyres are off road .

the bike is a lot slower than i thought it would be although i didn't want the revs going to high , maybe the bike will come alive with high revs once its run in .

I've worn a six days away in 800 miles. On a TTR 250, so could be less than that on your bike.

I find AC10's a good compromise, Superb offroad and I get about 1500 miles mixed, If I run bout 22 PSI, they actually disappear faster at higher PSI and at lower, which is odd. And I can get them for about £40. The front has lasted for 3500 miles and now I am debating replacing it,although it is a bit slippy in the mud compared to the Comp 3 I used to run.

I made friends with the local bike shop, Sometimes I get dibs on the tyres that are for the bin, I just got an MT21 for £15, and was about half worn. I put about 600 road miles on and it is now due for replacement.

I can't wait to get some MT90's on my spare TTR wheels, then save the knobblies for the weekend.

Just flip the tyres round when they get to about half way then go again.
