Indicator Bulbs

Im just about to order some indicators for my NSR, but on an off chance i thought id email the shop and check the wattage of the bulbs. I took my NSR one (other one was broke) off last night and it has 10w above the bulb. This aftermarket pair are 21W. Does it matter if i change them over? I hope its only the load of that particular NSR indicator is 10w...

The shop doesnt think id have any problems, but then they wouldnt. What do you guys think? Embarassed

Yes you will, your indicators will flash a lot quicker. I'm not sure on nsr's but on my rs50, after fitting 4 new mini indicators (all 21w) i got a new relay. It depends on if your fitting 4 new ones or two new ones as well.

You will need a 4x21w relay, cost £4.99 from halfords.

Just 2 new ones, for the front... Thanks for the information, will check up on the relays now!

you must think about the power of your alternator. if you increase the power taken by the winker (even if it's for a short time) you will see the voltage going down , for exemple at night your head lights will weakened . so i think it's not a good idea even if honda are bowring by putting non common bulbs , buy lights which accept these 10W . think about power max 276W : 110 W for the ignition and control valves system , 50 W head lights (or 70 W if you have 35/35) , 16 W small lights , 42 W stop lights , 20 W winker the remaining power is for the battery charge . more you need power , more your voltage goes down (even with the regulator)

I see your point. But when i came off i ripped both my front indicators off, and was quoted £25 each for new ones, which to be honest, is a disgrace.

So i just chose to have mini ones.

If the worst comes to the worst i can always just use a battery trickler to keep on top of the battery's condition.. The bike is garaged every night anyway, flicking it on when i get home wouldnt hurt it
