I have a 1985 suzuki rm 80 small wheel with a dr 125 sm 2010 engine fitted all was well when it just cut out and now will start on the button but will only run for 3/4 seconds then cuts out I have changed the coil rectifier / regulator and the injection unit all with no joy any ideas would be great fully received as it is now doi g my head in and I just want my bike back for the nice summer we are supposed to be having

Wouldn't really have a clue with that setup but an engine is an engine is an engine......so try putting some fuel in the back of the carb when it starts....keep a fire extinguisher on hand and do this outside!....does it keep running? If so fuel issue....if not......ignition issue....but doubt it's the latter! If it has a fuel pump it's not working or you have a filter or tank breather issue.

Sounds like you've been doing a 'Swap and hope'
which isnt best practise

did you check the plug just after it cut out?
wet? dry? getting a spark?

Yes it is injected az u have seen it lol and I will have a look at the plug after it cuts out some time today when I get chance

Further update to ideas from you guys..

Squirted fuel into carb/injector and it still cuts out....

When it cut out whipped the plug out and it was nice and dry and a light brown colour. ...

Keep the ideas coming please

Well if your adding fuel to the engine be it carb or throttle body .......and it still cuts out...it's not fuel starvation....plug should be wet tho unless the heat is making the fuel evaporate! Does the engine misfire or cough and splutter before it dies or does it just just run fine then stop?

No missfire or popping just dies down like the fuel has been cut off by a relay or something had a bit of the play with the loom and there is a relay that is all taped up with no outer casing cant upload a pic as it says file to large when relay is unplugged bike does not start ... replug back in bike starts but cuts out only problem is I dont know what its called to order a new one lol

The relay Daren mentioned is at the bottom of the image, it has a translucent/white plastic casing, next to the bolt hole and it no longer has tape on.

Sorry guys if this sounds like a stupid question .... Confused

But would a broken wire to my lambda sensor stop the bike from running I.e. my current problem above lol

Right getting realy wound up now 1 more week of trying and its getting put on gumtree to get what it owes me .....
Right todays problem is. I connected the broken wire from lambda sensor tryed to start the bike and it now has no spark the god dam hunk of junk

Try and find an online wiring diagram...maybe even on on here ....that does not look like a relay to me...it's hard to say from the pic but the board does not look like a relay!

Find out what it is and start from there

I may have missed this or just not be up to speed in FI bikes but you seem to have a standard tank on there. Where's the fuel pump. FI systems rely on fuel pressure don't they? At least they do on cars?

Yes its the standard rm80 tank but it has been running as is so im stumped ???????
