Bike alarmed?

Going to pick up an NSR125 on Saturday. I have insured it as non alarmed etc but recall seeing a couple of wires running from the helmet lock/seat release lock when I viewed it the other day!

What else could these be other than alarm wiring!?

Obviously I'll be getting more detail as when I viewed the other day I didn't even think to ask about any aftermarket alarm!

You can amend the details afterwards, but first check that the alarm, if there is one, has a fitting certificate. If it hasn't there's little point in declaring it because most if not all insurers required it be fitted by an approved installer before they will consider it for a reduction.

Aye, thanks Pete. Not really looking to reduce premiums as I've noticed that even with Thatcham approved gear it makes no difference. Fully aware of the lovely thing that is the postcode lottery as far as insurance is concerned

Just wondered whether that's what it was likely to be! I can only assume it is otherwise why else would there be wires there eh!?

I've never declared alarms or any security on my bikes just incase they go faulty/I forget to use them. I don't want to give the insurance companies any reason to wriggle out of a claim.

Exactly Biker101, hence why I didn't bother declaring chain and lock etc
