Hi all , another noob!
Ive had a couple of big bike lessons, i'm running about on a ybr at the mo, my instructor told me today im good for the mod 1 now. So Ive tried to book a mod 1 tonight and i cant get on until the 6th of may. Is this usual, I'd been under the impression you could get one in a week or two. Anyone know how it works picking up a cancellation?

Frustrated cos ive been on a 600 fazer today and the YBR feels very silly now! Very Happy

Hi Gaz and good luck with your Mod 1 when you get there Smile

I'd be interested to know the answer to that too as I'm hoping to nip in earlier with a cancellation but mine is booked through the bike school so I don't think I have the right details to check with the DSA.

It's not unheard of - depends on your local test centre, and being booked up a month in advance is possible. It's not like they run mod1 tests 7 days a week (often the mod1 course is rented to local bike schools some days for students to practice on).

Some of those slots will have been booked by bike schools reserving them for prospective students, so if the school doesn't fill their DAS courses, they'll cancel the booking - so yeah, it's worth keeping an look out for cancellations.

Worth checking for cancellations. I was originally due to do my mod 1 on 3rd April but managed to get a cancellation for the 25th March which I failed but got another cancellation for the 28th March. My Mod 2 was 30th April but now have it a bit sooner Shocked

It's my understanding (based on a FOI) that the majority of tests are block booked by schools now well in advance. Doubly so now that spring has sprung.

Does your instructor not have slots booked?

No the school I'm with just lets you book your own. I did think it might be block booking taking up all the tests, there's slots for a couple of days in early may then a whole week before the next ones. Seems a bit wrong to me be able to book slots without a person to fill them, but if that's how it is that's how it is.

Sabs, did you just ring up every day? Guess thats what i'll do.

Most schools do block book tests. My school had one day in the week where most slots would be allocated to them. They also had the test pad rented out to them most Sundays for mod 1 training.
Have you tried the next nearest testing centre that does mod 1 tests? My nearest was Scunthorpe but I ended up taking it in Lincoln as they had slots available far earlier.

My instructor booked mine for me - I think they do it on the web and see what's available.
