Well you don't have enough power to have to worry.
Its always recommended that you take it easy for 100 miles, 50 and its done IMO. |

Ped's do need to rub in tyres if they are anything like mine, It felt liek I was on ice when I first had my new ones fitted, took them about 50-60 miles to get scrubbed in. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Scrubbing in a new tyre is quite important.
When a tyre is made it is coated in silicone to get it out of the mold easily, silicone is a lubricant, this needs to be removed.
There are many ways to get it off but frankly just ride it and be careful, keep an eye on it until it has all been rubbed off. Do about 20 miles easy riding and then start leaning it a bit and by 50 miles you should be pretty cranked over. new roads are really good for scrubbing in! ____________________ www.predatorsport.co.uk Paintball arena located between Northampton and Milton Keynes |

Hey, last week I fitted in a new rear tire. I heard that after doing around a 100on the millage you could start riding normally. If it's a new tire then you might feel the bike handling differently, so take things easy and get more used to the way the bike feels. I just took things easy, don't go too fast on the bends and things should be ok.
There was a thread about this I think a few weeks ago, someone said that a burn out could wear it in faster. However, I remember something about doing circles not only standing or rolling burnouts. Congratulations on the new tire and best of luck . ____________________ Kawasaki ZZR 400 | K5 GSX-R 600 |

A burnout won't help, as yeti said all it will do is give you a flat spot. Anyway, where is a tyre most likely to lose grip? Not when you are going in a straight line, scrub the edges in properly or you might find yourelf slip sliding away ____________________ carbon bling |

I've had the tyre fitted now. I went to Waltling Tyres in Dartford, they charged £55
The tyre is a Pirelli and the guy said it only needs 30 miles on it to be scrubbed in. |

There's no universal distance for scrubbing in tyres, it depends entirely on how you ride. On a road bike after 10 miles or so of normal riding you'll end up with a fairy clean mid section and chicken strips on the edges, from then on it's just a case of taking a little bit off every time you lean the bike over any significant amount. But obviously if the edges of your tyres never touch the road, the chicken strips aren't going anywhere - hence people have tyres with bald middles but pristine unscrubbed edges.
I remember scrubbing in a brand new set of tyres on the R1 last year in under one lap of Snetterton. It really depends on how much of a hurry you're in... ____________________ 3516 Miles, 11 Countries |
