cbr 125 revs jumped up

hi i got a cbr 125 2005 it's only got 6900 miles on the clock while i was accelerating through 50mph today my bikes revs all of a sudden shot up I've never had this happen before doe's anyone have any idea what this could be ???

Could be gears dropping? Mine always does this unless I give it a very positive upshift - I never flick my foot up, I always lift the gear lever up with my foot + leg muscles.

Usually happens when I'm around 4th / 5th and then shortly after going into 6th if I give a weak upshift, starts off with a semi-drop, then it fully drops a gear which brings me from cruising at 7-8K revs to 10K which is nice and loud, right?

Anyway, could be a number of things but a prime suspect is worn dogs. Hasn't been a problem for the 5K miles I've put the bike through since it happened to me 1K miles after I got my bike, just make sure you do nice positive upshifts and see if it happens again.

If it happened while you were in gear then it could be one of two things:

- Clutch cable too tight so it's not letting the clutch close fully or,

- Clutch plates worn so slipping out when under heavy load. This happened to my bike and similarly only did it in high gear, while accelerating etc.

Possible other causes but that's what I'm suggesting, based on the evidence you've given Thumbs Up

It's a false neutral - a gap between gears, like that of neutral between first and second. I've had this happen on two bikes - both Hondas (a 600 and a 500 - not had them on any others yet). Fucking shat me sen. It really wakes you up. It's not your fault, exactly - but you will have to try to ensure you're more assertive with your left foot if you want to avoid them.
