Right, i'm having an argument one msn with someone about this car https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=29750&item=4515678528&rd=1 What do you lot think it's top speed will be?? and do you think it will have been downgeared??

Bare in mind it's sporting two ZX9 engines and 3 gear boxes.

Thanks, Dom

p.s. I posted it in this section, as it has two bike engines, if need be it can be moved.

The ZX9 is geared for about a 180mph top speed as standard; though won't reach that (apart from on the speedo) I doubt.

The car's gearing will have been changed from the bike one way or another, suspect it will have been downgeared a bit.

i,m going to guess 130mph, due to weight and lack of aerodynmaics

the ZX9R does between 177mph to 179mph on the fastbike videos. I rekon it will pull between anything from 150 -165mph depending on how light the chassis is.

It'll be anywhere from 120-150ish. Can't see it doing much more than that to be honest.

It'll have been built for the 0-60 and 0-100 sprints in mind rather than top end. It's more about the cornering and acceleration in a Westfield or Caterham than out and out speed.

Why the arguement?

Something witht hat much power could be capable of a seriously high top speed (200+)....

However, there is NO point in gearing it for that kind of top speed. Its a car designed to be fun on the roads and on the track, so it will be down geared to give better acceloration and to assist with pulling away as standard bike gearboxes have quite a tall 1st gear that wouldnt agree with having to pull the weight of that car including passengers on such a small clutch.

I'd say top speed would be 150.

It should handle very well. The Westfield is a great little car anyway and having two bike engines means it will still be lighter than a car engined one and should be a great little thing to throw around country lanes and the like*

* - It should be noted that I in no way endorse the speeding on country lanes or onthe public highway. Shifty Whistle

Hi

Doubt the top speed will be that good for the car. Probably 130~140mph, with the aerodynamics of a brick. For comparison a V8 Lotus Esprit manages a shade over 170mph is far better aerodynamics and 349hp.

All the best

Keith

You asked:
"Hi mate. Im sorry to waste your time but, could you answer me this question. What is the top speed of this car? I'm having an argument with a friend about it. Thanks, Kev p.s. once again, sorry for wasting your time"

hi, I have had just over 145mph, it can go a bit more, but I backed off, it should almost go the same speed as a ninja 900cc due to the gearboxes being the same.

hi, all.
Thanks for the interest.
I was the guy on Ebay that sold the twin engine westfield,
basically
the car can go over 145mph but as I said I backed off, I didnt like the feeling sitting in a Go cart with your A*se 3" of the tarmac Laughing

over xmas i had the engines balanced & tuned which just transformed the car into an even bigger power monster.
This car has two ninja 900's B2 engines with original boxes both had drive shafts that went into One power transfer/ gearbox unit. 1 to 1. The gearbox part was only for forward or reverse. It could reverse the same speed as going forward.

The only difference in a normal bike was power to weight ratio
total car weight was approx 450kg equates to 1 engine driving 225kg chasis. how does this compare with a bike?

Also the wheels were only 13" rims with low profile tyres, this would increase 0-60 times but would also reduce the top speed.
I believe if I had the bottle the car would get to approx 160 to 165mph taking it upto 13,000 rpm.
I didnt know the max rpm for a ninja, and it wasnt controlled by a rev limiter being carb driven.
It handles absolutley awesome on the bends in the dry, and as raced against 2 mates, 1 gixer k4 1000 & R1 2003, 0-60 & bends
left them for dust.
top speed I had no chance, but I tried
any way thanks for the thread
happy new year
chris
