Reg/rec, gearbox, big connector under front left fairing infill.

Ask to test ride, put in 2nd at 20mph and hold the throttle open. If it pings out, game over.

Do the same in 3rd and 4th. If it does the same, walk away.

My 2001 was nigh on perfect when I rode it, no idea why I got rid Sad

Paddy i feel the same as you i got rid of my 00 R1 and want it back!

I even called the guy up i sold it to 8 month later asking him if he wanted to sell it back to me at a profit to himself....HE SAID HELL NO!

Everytime i see a blue 00 R1 i keep wishing i was back on it and not the 07 R1 even tho it has better brakes and feels more stable at speed......imperfection is sometimes perfection!

its great bike get one do as Paddy said!

Im currently lookin on ebay at the mo for a blue 00-01 R1 as i only like the 5JJ model, the model your refering to is the 4XV model which is 98-99

ive come to the conclusion that newer is not always better even if you can afford newer, oldies sometimes are best as they are in their raw agressive form!

The fact he admits to abusing the bike would make me walk away and look for one that hasnt been wheelie....are the front wheel bearings gonna be ok? are the headstock bearings gonna be ok? too much wheelies leads to oil starvation......hmmmm......?

i imagine the biggest problem would be Women tripping up at the side of the road whilst trying to quickly remove their knickers to throw them to you as you ride past them.

Although I have heard that the throttle can alter the speed as required. Thumbs Up
