He's clearly guilty in my opinion but maybe he didn't think out his actions very well and didn't realise the impact it would have on him. Maybe he shot her in a rage of anger? So that's why i think he's soo upset now because he didn't really plan to kill her that night but did it in a heated moment.

Any how, he'll get done for man slaughter and not be found guilty for murder is my guess.

Of what?

He admitted to shooting someone through a door.
The rest is just speculation.

A non-argument, plenty of people would be alive if houses didn't have stairs.

A good bit of promotion for the ant-gun loby IMO. If he hadn't got a gun, there's a good chance she'd still be alive....no?

Thinking he beat up the door with a cricket bat how's the anti-cricket bat lobby going. I understand the English cricket team are supporting it, haven't been using a bat for ages.

Heard on the radio that South Africans are interested in how someone in a closed, gated community with its own security could feel threatened that someone broke into their living area. Given Krad's previous post about South African security companies vs police I'm wondering what the real story is.

Surely not a serious question?

lost the plot picked up the gun and shot her through the door

just my take on what I've heard of the evidence

He'll go to prison for 25 years and when he gets released... Bam! President of South Africa.

That's how it works over there, right?

Don't be ridiculous, he's only killed one person.

Of course, it's a different matter in SA than here, i guess a lot of white folks are living in fear of retribution for hundreds of years of abuse of it's native inhabitants and feel the need to have a gun with them constantly.

I didn't know white south africans had a life expectancy of hundreds of years? Is it something to do with the climate?

Surely a guy with no legs can put forward a pretty good case for having a gun for self defence. He's hardly in a position to run away, or fight hand-to-hand with an attacker.

He is in a good position to run away considering he is an olympic runner.

Is it just me or did anyone else think of Monty Pythons Black Knight sketch from the Holy Grail?

Mr home invader, sorry to inconvenience you, but if you wouldn't mind awfully I'd like you to wait until I've strapped on my prosthetics before you kill me, rape my wife and boil my son*.

In a country where its not uncommon for home invasions involving overpowering number of assailants and horrific cruelty to happen, I would think any smart SA (of any race) keeps a gun at hand.

*yes I know he hasn't got a son.

We can't ask him if he did it, we've got to ask the authorities active in the criminal proceedings how they are going to prove ''his'' deed, act against the Law. Until that, he's innocent no matter what people or media say. Let's be reasonable here.

EDIT: 19 to 2 he's guilty. So, there are only 2 people here, that think that one shall be convicted beyond a reasonable doubt, before he gets the murderer sticker on him. It's called principle of the presumption of innocence. Thumbs Up

only thing that is certain is he did kill her
the question is do you believe his intruder story or not, personally I don't
woman screams, seconds later shots heard

only thing I'm not clear on and I haven't seen any reports on is was she on the throne pants down when shot, backing his version
or standing clothed putting that in doubt
and why didn't he shout a warning like "You in the toilet I have a gun"
surely she would have answered

and if he thought she was in the room with him in the bed or on the floor
surely she would have said something when he fired the gun, he said he thought she was on the floor or behind the curtain
he would have heard her move or seen her

Let's recap his story.

He wakes at 3am.
Hears noises in the bathroom.
Doesn't notice that his girlfriend isn't there and doesn't wonder where she is.
Immediately concludes based on no other evidence that someone has penetrated his gated community, broken in and stopped for a quick whizz before getting on with the raping and the murdering, as of course you would.
Grabs his gun and stumps over to the door.
Without a word and without making any attempt to check where his girlfriend is, fires twice through the door, curiously not at the spot in front of the toilet where a murder-rapist would be standing, but directly over the bowl where a woman might be sitting.
Screams just like a woman, because nobody else screamed, no sir.
Fires another two times just to be sure that he's finished off the non-screaming murder-rapist in there.
Goes to look for his girlfriend to tell her how he's saved her.

But of course, innocent until proven guilty.

Shooting without clearly identifying the target is a big no-no. Even if his story is correct and he isn't guilty of murder, he is a massive massive tool.

I saw a news report where he cried in the courtroom and claimed to have nightmares where he could 'smell the blood'. It was such an obvious act, it was appalling.
