need to ask if he's colour blind

I saw a vmax once that the owner had made loads of metal spiders at work and stuck on in diffferent places, and it was a 20 year old US import and a bit worn, still preferable to that shocker

In fairness, the finish is ok, but its too much for me.
Bet he's never taken it out in the sun. I sure wouldn't, that orange would be dead within the hour.

Wonder if he's swapped the flouresecents for UV tubes in his Garage. As it would look the part on a stage, at a fun filled night of psycadellic penguin acid techno trance. With a scantily clad happy hardcore honey dancing and sniffing bleed inducing lines of MDMA off it.

I thought it was too much until I noticed that it has whitewalls, so that's all right. Thumbs Up

Buy it.
Show up with a bunch of matt black rattle cans.
Spray it two handed while previous owner weeps.

I'm easy going when it comes to how people style their bikes, everything from highly-polished-never-taken-out-in-the-rain to RAT.

But that makes me simultaneously dizzy and nauseous.

That canard looks ridiculous on that bike and destroys its line just as the paint destroys just about everything else.

Oh dear!
Looks like it was done by an enthusiastic but colour blind 12 year old

Typical overdecorated tat by the sort who'll do everything and
anything but actually get on and ride the fucking thing

I put it in an image editor and cycled the colours and its looks ghastly whatever the combination

I think even the owner's sales pitch sort of hints he recognises that what has happened in the metal, isn't quite the idea he had in his mind... such is life.

Gulf Colours... I'd clocked that before I saw the blurb, and thought it was a bit brave on a bike; works on a car, as the mute blue in large expanses is fairly subtle, and gives a distinct contrast when white decals added; the orange, then adds a high-light that lifts it out of the crowd and makes it distinct.

In the 1960's, when psychedelic colour rage was all the fashion; it was quite avante-guarde, loud, yet subtle, using more traditional mute colours than the then trendy screaming purples, yellows and voliets, and for a race car likely to get bashed, but needing to be turned out spick-and-span every outing, flat colour rather than then popular candies or metalics, very repairable and practical.

https://www.njstangers.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=3798

Good graphic design... good design!

I think I can see the idea; 'Retro'. Very 'Cars' cartoon. Vert Arlen Ness-talgic

https://ww2.hdnux.com/photos/10/44/14/2245397/5/628x471.jpg

Gone WRONG:-

https://i.ebayimg.com/t/V-MAX-1200-CUSTOM-YAMAHA-SHOWBIKE-HOG-CHOP-CRUISER-STREETFIGHTER-MOTORCYCLE-/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/Xf0AAOxycD9TRwD6/$_58.JPG

Innovation and novelty IS truly hard to achieve. Slapping Dommies and fake Renthals on a Bandit does not a Street-fighter make! And as inovative customes get built, styles evolve, like steam-punk or survival specials, until some-one like Ness comes along and does something with a little more clarity of vision and purpose of production.

So? It hasn't worked. The colours are too close to gether, they dont have space to breath, and there's too much detail crammed into too little room, all competing.

Do I like it? I do, sort of. Asthetically I think its horrible, but then there are many many motorcycles, even from teh factories I think are asthetically horible. What I 'like' is that its just NOT yet another 'Black to the Max'; it's NOT yet another Orangie County Kit-Chop with billit blink; its NOT yet another high arsed R1 bummed Gixxer; its NOT yet another GT750-with a gas-mask over the headlamp.

It's not worked... but he dared to be different.

Lesson? If you have a vision like that, then you have to work with what you got. He's lovingly detailed out a lot of stock parts there, in what must have been a fairly full rebuild; on a relatively restricted budget... WHY paint the tyres white? If he had been more restrained and worked on enhancing what was there, using more subtle colours, aiming for a more subtle overall effect; could have looked good. Otherwise, to get that colour scheme to work on a motorbike; and I think it could; Then Gulf used black-pin-striping to good effect, seperating the colours, not chrome. ALL the chrome would have to go, and to get the balence and space, probably some crafty tin-work to increase panel area. Maybe deep-fendering the mudguards; valencing the belly-pan into the rad-panel; then going blue base, for motor and bodywork; picking out the frame in black, and leaving the orange for racing stripes, over mudguards and side-panels.

So, yup, its a failure, but at least he's failed with flair and imagination... unlike so many that are almost apologetic tokens to fashion and the after-market parts catalogues!

Things like this make me wish I was a millionaire, then I could buy it, wheel it into the street, douse it in petrol and touch it off.
