Hi there, I'm new to the forum and need to start my post count off with a question.

I have a Honda CR500 motocross which was sold to me as a 1996 bike. I've since been told that it looks more like a 1993, or even a 1991.

I'm not too bothered, because I got it for a good price (even for a 1991) but it would be nice to know.

Does anyone know of a website where I can put in (or look up) the frame or even engine number to date my bike.

Just for the record, the frame number is HMPE025800397 and the engine is 5001477.

Thanks and best Regards
reeferman

Phone up a Honda dealer and they can check for you. They might be a tad unwilling to do this, however if you make out you want to buy something but are unsure of the year but have a frame number they will be forced to check then, and you can just say just out of curiosity what year is the bike, then when they give you a price on the product just say you'll think about it and phone them back. As Scooby said above, ring a Honda dealer on the pretence of buying a part for it. If you would rather not do this then I have always found emailing the manufacturer with the details with a polite manner and they will normally tell you what you need to know. Have a look on the Honda website for an appropriate email address, but be prepared to wait a few working days for a reply.
