 |
|
Hey all,
So I got a new bike yesterday. An ER6F and I absolutely love riding it! It's my first big bike. I had to wait a week to get a restrictor fitted as I'm only on an A2 license.
Do ALL restrictor kits for this particular bike come with a certificate?
I asked the dealer where it was and he said that the kit didn't come with one. I even asked a good friend of mine to ask him and the dealer told my friend the same thing. He is the son of the guy who owns the dealership.
I was so excited about just riding away that day I didn't really think much of it but now I'm a bit worried in case I get pulled over and cannot prove it has been restricted.
Because it's my first big bike I can't really compare the power to anything else other than the bike I learned on but that was only 33bhp and this one should be 47bhp so it's going to be more powerful no matter what.

That, make some copies of the receipt for the kit and if the bill for fitting of it, and you're good to go (largely irrespective of whether it falls out or not).
I say "kit", I understand that on the ER6 it's a throttle stop screw and a not-entirely-necessary dongle that shorts a wire in the engine diagnostics circuit. Maybe 50p worth of parts and 10 minutes to fit.
Assuming that they mugged you for the usual £200 or so for fitting it, I'd damn well want my money's worth in terms of documentation.
Perhaps this was a question that should have been asked before ordering the kit? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Thanks for the information guys. I probably should have asked more about it. I looked online and most kits for the ER6F were around £50. So £100 for fitting is a little steep but it's far less hassle for me as I wouldn't have been able to ride it home to fit myself! (That is providing they fitted my bike with the kit I found online).
I asked my friend to talk to his Dad in the morning and will hopefully be able to get some kind of documentation for it, just in case so I'm covered. I have the original documentation with the sales order receipt and it does say £150 for the kit on the paper so hopefully that should be enough.
Thanks once again for the info. ____________________ YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/SuperBradio

Another issue is my insurance. If I crash it they will do whatever they can to not pay out so if it's unrestricted it'll get void. ____________________ YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/SuperBradio
