Hi, been scouring around for breakdown cover for my bike including searching this forum and have found some great ones like autoaid but they only cover bikes from 150cc or over. Does anyone know a similar company that offers breakdown cover similar to autoaid but for bikes at 125cc? Would try AA and RAC but prices seem a lot compared to others.

Cheers.

£39 a year, it's a pay and claim scheme which i think is brilliant value for the cover, if you have the funds.

Good because it's a named driver scheme - covers all your vehicles for that price. Unfortunately you're right - they don't cover <150cc bikes (and it's actually in the policy documents, so there's not much point arguing the toss with them).

This is worth a shot though - new customer offers or cashback offers to reduce the price. Will only work for the first year, but if you might be changing to a larger bike after then, that doesn't matter...

Green flag was the best I found, about £43 with £15 quidco cash back for their recovery package (ie take you to your choice of destination not the nearest garage)

Just quoted me £115 with recovery Crying or Very sad would rather have some type of recovery with it. Still steep just for a 125 if you ask me.

If its for a new bike you havent got/insured yet check the insurance quotes first as many insurance policies may come with breakdown included - although check the level of cover is adequate for your needs.

There are lots of breakdown comparison sites that can be good, but again you may need to check/specify your bike at some stage to be sure you're accepted for their cover.

Found one at https://www.swinton.co.uk/bike/motorcycle-breakdown-cover/. Not what i was looking for as ideally i wanted a pay and claim type but will have to wait until i pass all the tests and get a bigger bike.

It works out £3.99 a month with the first three months free, so £35.92 in total for a year. Can't complain about that and it includes recovery to a garage or your home.

Yup, up until last year they hadn't actually updated the policy so you'd have got your money back. Sad

It's nine years old so will be ok. I hate policy wording lol, always trying to catch customers out with it's exhausting wording.

Is it worth looking into one of those bank accounts that throw it in for a monthly fee? I have one that gives me AA cover, mobile phone insurance, card cover (including other bank cards and driving license etc) and travel insurance.

I would watch it with those things, i upgraded my account years ago, then downgraded again when i realized it was only for one call out per year. Might be handy but i wouldn't call that value for money. And as Rogerborg explained earlier, check the policy details/wording.

Anyway, i'm happy with what i got, if my bike breaks down more than four times within a year then it's best to scrap it Smile or make a bobber chopper.

Not bad. No exclusions on motorcycles, and they do cover after an accident (I want this).

Exclusion on 16-19 year old vehicles (I guess over 20 they become classics?), exclusion on out-of-fuel, a somewhat confusingly worded section on tyres, and all except the top tier cover excludes theft and vandalism.

I personally went for AA for both years of my riding so far, first year the cost was -£20. Yes that's right I did it through a cash back website, they gave me the cash back then a few months later they gave me extra back.

Second time was £50 for the year with a cash back website, allows me to be picked up in any vehicle with passengers. Also delivery to anywhere in the UK.

Only snag with AA is you only get 4 pick ups a year, not that much of a problem as long as you keep the bike maintained. Embarassed

They exclude failure due to accidental damage, frost, freezing, corrosion, erosion, blockage, water penetration, road traffic accidents, theft or vandalism.
