I've been commuting 60 miles a day for the past 3 weeks and can't take doing 50-55 up the A2 anymore. Evil or Very Mad

I was going to do A2 restricted test, then get a GS500F, but decided the faring didn't look that good after all.

Then decided to go for a 600cc restricted bike, but reading the forums, seems like that's not a great idea either, soooo Twisted Evil Twisted Evil , I've decided to go for DAS. Laughing

Booked a week off at the end of January, 3 day DAS with test on 4th day for £390 Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Whats wrong with a restricted 600?

Long as you can keep your wits about you riding it, afford the insurance then nothing wrong with a sports 600...

But then again, can cut out the middle man an go for DAS.. just as good.

Good luck!

I second what Baker is saying, Ive got a GSXR 600 sitting ready for me when I pass my restricted test.

If youve got the disposable income for insurance then go for it!

(as an aside Baker what age are you again and what insurance do you pay? Cheers)

Sorry Barker-CBR 600 Smile , I just re-read my own post and realised my comment wasn't made clear.

My original intention was to buy a new GS500F or CBF500 restricted bike (with free restrictor kit) but decided I didn't really like the size/look.

Buying a nearly new 600 would mean paying £250 for a restrictor kit and what with the cost of 2-3 day course and test it would end up being cheaper to go DAS.

I can only speak from my personal experiecne, but my restricted Bandit 600 is totally AOK and fun to ride. Yes, it lacks ultimate top end punch but great everywhere else and for the unexperienced like me, probably a good thing in the short term.

I will be doing another test on the 500 shortly as I was hopeless at U-Turns - I did a DAS and loved the 500s but never really got the hang of the U-Turn in time so didn't test, bought a 125, practised like mad, did my A2 a few months ago (passed easily) and now ready to upgrade it so i can ride my CBR600F and unrestrict the Bandit - i can't wait another year and a bit.

So, I say go DAS if you think you're ready and will be sensible as you adapt very quickly to the power increase - Definitely better overall I think.

Foxbat, I didn't realise you could pass A2 then do DAS, thought that was for under 21's.

I got CBR600 F (1999), great bike, easy enough to not intimidate you but got enough spunk to satisfy your needs.. Shocked

An Oni i am 17 and insurance TP is £1100.

TPFT quotes were £1400 kept in a locked garage with a META 357T alarm/immobiliser.

Lowest quote was £1093, but the company i was already with for my XVS pretty much matched it and couldnt be bothered with paperwork etc.

I won't do DAS again - no point. I will just have a days refresher training on a L-plate 500cc then do the test.
