Sorry but I am a newb to motorcycles, I bought this bike as a learning experience. When I bought it the gas tank was off and stripped for paint. The hoses were cut off. Now I need to know where to hook them back up to. Here are some pictures with labels. Not sure if D is in the right place. The bike is an 81 suzuki gs550

Hi

B looks like the vacuum connector so pipe D probably, while C looks like the fuel connector so goes to pipe E. F looks like a breather hose so I would normally expect that to go to the airbox. Not sure what A is (unless it is a carbon canister and connects to pipe F - is it an import?).

All the best

Keith

Thanks for the reply Keith, yes it's an import, Suzuki. Since the bike no longer has the air box is it safe to let the hose F hang freely? I don't want it to suck dirty air, maybe plug it? So you think A may connect to a fuel filter?

Hi

Some bikes (particularly those for markets with strict emissions rules such as the USA, or worse California) have carbon canisters to absorb fuel fumes, with the fumes then drawn out into the intake to be burned off when the engine is running. My guess would be it is one of those but FAR from certain.

All the best

You know what, that is some pretty logical thinking. As it stands now the hose on F is far to big, but if the carbon canister has a different size fitment that would work, the hose ends in about the right place for that as well.

hi,
if it is for a fuel fume canister, just junk it.
i had this on my us spec vfr700. was just an unecesary load of tubes + a heavy charcoal filled canister. (evap honda called it) + that bike was a 1986 iirc. (before they went to single sided swingarm) them californian regs are pretty strict.
i ripped it all out + bike ran just as good,
iirc, i blocked off 1 hose
cheers,
GAZ

F = Breather Hose, from top of carbs fits to the air box which you no longer have because I can see you've got those stupid metallic cone air filters which are in my opinion crap, as they easily come off if you get carb problems and the fuel comes out via the air intake which makes them eventually slide off or pop off!!! So, you need to make sure you've attached a mini air filter on that Breather Hose too.

A = Fuel Overflow Pipe Connection

B = Vacuum Pipe Connection

C = Fuel Pipe Connection

D= Looks like the Fuel Line, as it's usually thicker than Vacuum line

E = looks like the Vacuum line
