Passed my Mod 2 today, first attempt
I deliberately took the CBF to my lesson/test just so I could rip off the L plates for the ride home. Luckily, that gamble paid off!
I just need to decide what bike to buy now. I'm in no rush, but time and tide...
Many thanks to Phoenix Bristol for getting me here, I can thoroughly recommend them. |

Top notch, just in time for the fun stuff.
Thread useless without bikeporn though. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Right, I think I'm down to 4.
Street Triple
ER-6F
MT07
F800GT
It's a bit of an eclectic mix I know. The heart says Street Triple, but the wallet says MT07. Then there's the, should I get something better for 2-up question, hence the F800 or just go with the ER6 which might do a bit of everything.
The real challenge is getting test rides. The Kawasaki dealer is fine, but local Yam/Tri dealer is not interested in letting a new rider test ride. So I'm waiting on a couple of responses from further afield. I don't mind travelling a bit. I haven't spoken to BMW yet.
The Triumph dealer at Cheltenham had the nerve to say no test ride, but I could sit on one in the showroom and they could deliver if I wanted to buy. I declined |

If debating Triple... entertain MT09.
I wouldn't consider a twin when a triple is on the cards, even a used 1 year old one might be a good shout.

Odd they wouldn't give you a test ride, wonder how much business they must lose Had a MT-09 parked alongside my bike today, and was a little envious. Think the MT-07's really good value, wouldn't mind either, or a street triple ____________________ Yamaha MT-03 '08 (crashed)

I'm no expert, but hey, this is the internet so I'm as knowledgeable as anyone
I'm sure they must be losing more in sales than the cost of additional insurance. |

If you're wondering "why should I pay a dealer premium when they won't even offer a test ride that a private seller probably would?" then I'm as baffled as you.
I can't fault the pre-sales experience at my local BMW wallet-lighteners, to be fair to them. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

It may be good value, but with a bike if you want a commuter, get one. Shitty thing with 30k that you can run into the ground, if you want a fun bike however, don't get a gay one, such as the MT07, looks good on paper I suppose, but a triple or one of those...
Come off it, only a complete sandwich would go for the twin. |

Street Triple was my first big bike, no problem with a test ride from local Triumph dealer on the Street, or Daytona R from another local dealer...Try a different one ____________________ Mod 2 passed 26/10/2011
