My Policy for my CG just finished (at the beginning of April) an i told Swinton that i wasn't renewing as my new bigger bike isn't on the road yet etc..

They told me "its fine i will cancel the auto-renewal for your policy on your notes, so you wont be charged for the new new policy etc"

just checked my account an they have taken another payment, so i phoned them an they said "oh yeah that was a mistake, it will be refunded back to you between 7-10 days"

fuckers, its only £30 but its the fact of the matter, if i was sending them a payment an it took a week, i would incur charges

Rant over...carry on

I ordered foreign currency to collect from an asda shop. Got a phone call the next day saying they couldn't actually do it so they had to refund me, in 5 to 10 working days!!! I was 550 notes down to them, and because they wouldn't refund me instantly had to go out and get another 550 quid worth of Croatian!!

I called up when I returned to be told the refund hadn't actually been actioned so I got a same day payment, why they couldn't do that earlier I have no clue.

So contact your bank/card provider and get them to refund it straight away PSD 2009 (payment serviced directive) if its a card payment on the basis it was cancelled on the date you spoke to them.

Or if a DD under the DD indemnity scheme. Thumbs Up

Bikesure did the same to me,

I e-mailed them saying I needed the money in my account within 24 hours otherwise I would have no money for food etc (was £500) and would have to go to the bank and have them re-fund the money as fraudulent since I had told them twice not to re-new.

twas sorted.

Could go he other way Bennets were told to renew my insurance but cancelled it leaving me uninsured for two weeks.

When the cancellation notice came through I phoned them, they told me they would now have to recalculate my premium and upped it by 10%.

This thread almost had me worried. I too am currently with Swinton. I was sent a reminder that my insurance was due to expire in May. I've since found cheaper insurance, lots cheaper, and called Swinton to say I will not be renewing.

And then I stopped worrying because I paid for the year in full with a debit card from a bank account that has since been closed.
