Kinda ripped a whole on my waterproof over trousers a few months ago, since then they have got caught on the pegs a few times. Lets just say they do more harm than good at the moment in the rain.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations I'm tempted at these; anyone used them before Question

I know you asked for trousers but just in case you might consider of an over-suit, I have the RST rain suit in black / grey and it's been absolutely brilliant.

Not only has it kept me dry but through the winter it kept me warm enough without having to put on extra layers (even though we didn't even have that bad of a winter this year).

Cost about 50 quid but Amazon don't stock it any more I don't think. Might be able to get one cheaper somewhere else online.

Agree with J7mbo about the RST rain suit - very good bit of kit, plenty available on ebay [couple half priced mid-auction at the moment].

Never used seperate overtrousers so can't advise there - its either textiles/rainsuit/wet legs for me Razz

They should be fine, at least you don't have a hole in them.

The best waterproof trousers I have ever had were my £10 Quechua trousers from Decathlon. Absolutely waterproof, wore them over my kevlar jeans.

Another vote for old army ones. Cheap, waterproof and fairly tough.

Wotcha.

If you can find any . . . Dutch army Goretex is excellent.
The British ones are good, but as much as I hate to say it, they are not as good as the Dutch ones.

This. Done me fine for 2 years, at £10 a pop, even if they only last the winter, why pay three times more because it has a bike brand on it?

another vote for the Decathlon ones, £10, taped seams inside and zips at the bottom big enough to get over a boot. Thumbs Up

edit:
even cheaper online!

Utterly agree but they are very thin on the ground these days. I look for them in every army surplus store I pass but there just aren't any huge size ones that fit over leathers. I think they must have stopped making them.

I've given up trying to find a single item that'll stay waterproof and doesn't cost a fortune. Had no luck with army stuff, leaked after a while like everything else does.

I've got a few thin, cheap overtrousers (eBay £9 jobs) and I wear multiples depending on how bad the rain's expected to be. 1 pair for light rain, 2 pairs for heavy, 3 pairs for driving rain @ motorway speeds Wink

I'm really impressed with my Flexothane oversuit, so I imagine the trousers would be just as good!

Another vote for British Army gortex overtrousers. Not tried the Dutch Goretex trousers, and I'm a 32" waist. Will see if I can track a pair down.

++++++++++

Just found some large sized trousers here fellas ...

+1 (maybe +2) for the issue goretex.

My normal rainkit is goretex trousers over my normal trousers, and then the goretex jacket under my textile jacket. There's a goodly overlap between the trousers and the jacket so the belly region stays nice and warm!

I'd recommend endicotts army surplus in exeter (they post stuff too) for issue goretex gear. I got a full set of goretex in brilliant condition, plus goretex gaiters and german goretex gloves for £60. By contrast my local army surplus wanted £50 for a single issue goretex jacket.

If you need waterproof, why not get some leather trousers?

Sorry I haven't replied been speaking to another member and managed to grab a pair of Titanium Wolf Textile Trousers. Seem good so far, I'll see how they hold up in the rain but a bargain at the price I paid.

Unluckily I'm saving my waterproof trousers for a later date, they aren't that practical to fix pallets with. I tried that on my first day in BLJ and leather trousers.

Because leather soaks up water like a sponge?

Ask Sammy, he has waterproof leathers. Because, and I quote

HiGear (own brand) waterproofs that I bought from Go Outdoors...
About £15 i.i.r.c. and they're used on a regular basis for the past 2 years. Still going strong.
