Truth.
Also, anticipatory congratulatories.

It's entirely dependent on the contract.
On my Hastings Direct policy, for example, there's no premium refund after 6 months. Admin fees including cancellation are £30 per change. Unlike with the 2 week cooling off period, there's no requirement for fees to be reasonable, other than the contract itself being reasonable.
You "should" cancel the policy, because if the new owner stacks the bike into well lawyered up kittens while uninsured, then your policy will (likely) pay out for their whole life care, and your insurer will be most displeased.
I have in the past "forgotten" to do so, although now I might be minded to get proof of postage for a letter sent to their address which, to the best of my recollection, contained a notification that I no longer had the vehicle. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Eh, maybe. But unless it's a hojillion dubloon quadraspazz claim, what are the chances of the new owner's insurers trying to split the indemnity with yours?
Remember, it's indemnity for liability, not "pay anything to anyone" cover.

Which covers the case of the new owner having no insurance, not the split liability situation.
I agree that if you're selling to some pikey then you should consider covering your back, but it's a £30 - £50 up front cost against a (very) small chance of hassle later.
You could always just tell your insurer that you no longer have the bike, so they can "void" the policy (as they seem so keen on doing) and wish them the very best of luck in recovering what you "owe" them.
I mention this because eBike passed my ~£7.70 cancellation net "debt" onto a collections agency some months ago. How terrified I must be that I will land up in court any day now. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

They are only refunding me if i send the certificate back, which in itself is absolutley fucking useless. I will wipe my arse with the certificate.

Most insurers have a cancellation fee...its how they make extra money. Best let it expire and in the meantime move on to another insurer. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |
