Probably a long way off from being a standard supermarket item, but the potential's there now.

Good or bad thing?

I'm sure we'll ban it before it's even available, because children.

I think there's a business spin-off opportunity from this that I won't mention just in case it becomes popular.

Aside from that, it'll make smuggling coke/ketamine/any other narcotic a shit load easier "Naaaah officer, you got it all wrong, its just a sex on the beach".

I really don't see the need for it, there's seldom times where I'm thinking "Man I have so much alcohol to transport and not the logistics to do so, if only this was in a powder packet".

I think if there was a market/requirement for this it would have been done long ago, as it stands, carrying around baggies of powder isn't the best look for most and I'll wager they taste like shit anyway.

When drinking alcohol its easy to gauge how much you are taking in.

You'll usually throw up before it gets to the alcohol poisoning stage.

With lager for example, I find I get to a point where I physically have to force myself to swallow any more. Due to being bloated and pretty pissed.

With this you can easily snort too much and then suddenly you are passed out on the floor.

It will be in your system instantly, with drinking alcohol you'll throw up whatever is left in your stomach as a defence mechanism so no more will be absorbed.

Agree with krarkol pretty much - although plenty of people manage to neck lethal amounts of spirits in a short space of time still, a lot more people will likely 'accidently' take too much, particularly when younger people get hold of it as they inevitably will and start taking it at parties and so on.

Seems from the bottom update to the article its not that likely to go ahead, i'd be very suprised if it got legalised and approved by anywhere. The alcohol industry would no doubt begin huge lobbying against it too unless they get their hands on patents and sales for it.

Quote:
Update 4/21/2014 5:45 PDT: It has now come to light that Palcohol received approval for their label, not the product. A representative for the federal bureau said that the approval was made in error, though details were not provided about how the error occurred. Palcohol creator Mark Phillips was not available for comment, but agreed to surrender the approvals this afternoon. Phillips will likely re-evaluate the situation and try for approval on his labels again.

They said the same about smoking weed... "You'll know when you've had too much".

It was the fourth intake that took me from being fine to unconscious.

As for snorting though:

Quote:
The Palcohol website says this about snorting: “We have seen comments about goofballs wanting to snort it. Don't do it! It is not a responsible or smart way to use the product. To take precautions against this action, we've added volume to the powder so it would take more than a half of a cup of powder to get the equivalent of one drink up your nose. You would feel a lot of pain for very little gain. Just use it the right way.”

Some idiots will do anything, but I doubt snorting it would become 'normal'.

I have a friend that does the same off weed.

Thing is though, the weed won't poison you. You just merely passed out/fell asleep.

Tail end of a weekend long party. All the proper drugs are gone. Someone brings out a bag of alcho-powder.....

People will sniff it, regardless of whether it gets you drunk or not. People will want something to sniff, however remotely drug like, and unlike sugar or whatever, you can attempt to trick yourself into thinking there is some effect however small.

Why is it making me think of the 'Super-Concentrated' soap powder adverts? "Three times the cleaning, in half the sized bottle means less water, less waste and less pollution"... and they charge double the price, knowing you'll use just the same volume, so end up giving them four times the money Rolling Eyes

"Welcome To the Bacardi Zone... Now in handy refill pouches!"

Heaven help the Cat! Just think if you had a few and got it muddled up with the Whiskers packet!

You could always snort it with powdered water.
