Hello Everyone Very Happy ,

Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Paddy, from N.Ireland but currently living in Stoke-on-Trent and work for a new British company called Bike Systems who are selling a motorcycle heads up display unit.

And how much do I have to pay for the privilege of being distracted from the road? It's not like I don't have enough to concentrate on already, is it?

Welcome to the forum, however. Hope we're useful in whatever market research/"special offers" you have for us.

I can't help thinking I've seen something like that somewhere before. I just can't put my finger on it. Maybe my clocks? Rolling Eyes

Is it just a Tom Tom stuck inside your lid with an annoying as fuck cable then attaching you to the bike?

I thought HUD's projected on to screens/visors/etc, not were just large lumps with a screen jammed under a helmet.

Also if you have an off with this wedged under your lid won't it cause damage to you?

And what does it do that taping an android phone to the chinbar and having the right apps doesn't do?

Or am I being a spastic and missing the point?

Bike HUD will work if you have glasses, (including reading glasses or if you are long/short sighted)

Do you have a trial option? Do you need a specific helmet, flip front lids? Off road/dual sport lids?

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody!

In regards to 'Bike HUD' I do understand all of your concerns. First of it does not block your view at all.

If you can see it then it must be blocking a part of your view, I'm guessing you just consider that part of someones view less important.

Quote:
Second it is not actually a distraction as it sits just below your eye line, but can take a while to get used to.

It's a fucking screen in your line of sight. It comes with a button allowing you to play with it..... of course it's a distraction.

The unit has been fully safety tested and will not fly about and cause damage to your face in the unfortunate case of an accident.

Can you tell us about that because I genuinely wonder how a large lump inside your lid does not present a risk of greater injury when you pile in to the ground face first.

Even our customers had concerns to begin with and so did I, but until you try it on and use it on the road or the track you will then begin to see how good and useful it really is.

I think it's a very expensive way of refining this

It looks like a display rather than a heads up display. The definition of a heads up display is a display that you can see without dipping your head, or obstructing your view, IE it's transparent.

This is not transparent. It's also unsolicited commercial advertising and so comes under the rules of Spam technically. I'm surprised you've got away so lightly so far OP.

I'm intrigued.

Wonder what it will actually display on my bike, how it fits with my lid and my already shit vision outside of my glasses visible region Laughing

I dont want to sound like a C*nt here but how often do you actually look what speed you're doing?

I find if I'm in traffic or at least behind cars then I just stick to that speed as I doubt everyone is speeding.

If I'm riding like a knob You are probably way over the limit and concentrating on the road than what actual figure you're doing.

Might just be Me though..

Don't see the point it in really to be honest, but would be interested to see how it is works if Paddy or anyone else gets it to review - hopefully you honour your 30 day returns policy Wink

Out of interest, how exactly has it been safety tested to prevent dislodging on impact - Sounds potentially extremely dangerous to have something like that flying around in your lid in the middle of an accident.

"It means that for the first time you’ll have an extra set of ‘eyes’ to enjoy the freedom of the road safely without the distraction of having to look down at your instrument panel."

Is it not more of a distraction to have the HUD in your vision all of the time?

Have you got any photos of it from the riders point of view?

Why does it need a GPS unit under the seat?

I also saw in MCE that if people don't like it you will pay for a years subscription...

Is this correct?

Not got a small enough one to add to the HUD thing, speed reading or something similar?
