Got caught doing 59 in a 40 in my car back in 2010 (3 points). Also got stopped going considerably more a few months before, but nothing ever came of it.

My insurance is pretty cheap, but when can I stop declaring those 3 points?

Got 3 Points in 2008 but I think they are off your license in 3 and don't have to declare them to insurance after 5 years.

Annoying thing - the only three points for speeding were on a 125: I've been riding a 600 for a few years now and haven't been caught once (not that there was anything to catch, but you know ).

I think your first ever speeding points teach you two things, legitimately:

• Slow the f* down, learn when it's safe to move a little faster than normal
  
• Look the f* out for potential police at all times

I got 6 on the Isle of Man when I lived there, on a crappy £100 scooter, no less! Was riding down the road to show my Mum the abomination of a scooter I just bought (bought it to use while I was restoring a 125cc bike), and had no insurance (hadn't got 'round to it). Got pulled over doing 19mph, late at night. Was not a good day..

Thing is, back then, the IoM and England had seperate systems, so when I moved over to England my points didn't transfer over! Dodged a bullet there...

3 currently, from using my mobile in the car in March.

I had 9 for a couple of years.

In my first 4 years on the road i amassed 15 points and 2 bans (not through the totting up and never went over 9 points at a time). Then managed to not get pulled over for a shade over 4 years until the recent 3.

Ive done just under 40k miles since last March so it could have been a lot worse
