Mot type question....

If a cylinder block is different to the one that was there when then bike was made, and is a different size (say. 150cc rather than 125) to the original ( cc machined onto the side, albeit inconspicuously) would a mot tester pick this up and would it be a snag? It doesn't alter the DVLA road tax due by the way.
Equally the bike has had to have a replacement engine (original seized) and so has a different engine number, would this be a problem? I have to say I can't see a tester wiping the grime off the crankcase and checking the numbers....
The bike will be taken there in a van before the whole 'have you told the insurance' crowd pipe up.

You know you local guy better than we do. Might get flagged at some places, but I have a feeling it wouldn't be brought up at either of my locals.

I don't suppose you'd be clumsy enough to bump into your bike whilst holding a dremel or similar though would you?

The frame/VIN is different to the engine number.

The engine number isn't checked as part of the MOT, I see no reason for them to notice that the engine has been changed assuming it's been done properly and isn't held in place by cable ties. Razz

IIRC OP isnt even talking about the engine number. He's just talking about the little part of the casting which has the nominal cc on the block?

The actual "engine number" is usually stamped onto the crankcases not the cylinder (which could realistically be replaced at some point).

The op is on about both. The cc has been changed, and the engine has too. 'Ive had the bike for ages and it's just fine. It's had three new rolling chassis' and four new engines...'

Never checked my engine numbers nor frame numbers, my DT doesn't even have the frame numbers present due to a respray and sandblasting... Confused

Engine numbers are present, but can't see them over dirt.

Only thing my MOT inspector checks is tyres, suspension and lights.

Mine is a 125CC topend but been bored out to something like a 130CC due to rebuilds.

I put mine through the MOT with black tape over the indicator switch and over the mileage and still passed. Laughing
