They aren't really fit and forget, you are supposed to format every few overwrites, I think capacity gradually reduces(?)
You have to put the card in a computer to do that - or connect the camera.
Image quality is not that good either. |
Been using the Roadhawk Ride stuck on my helmet for about 6 months now. Stuck a 32Gb stick in it when I bought it, haven't formatted it or ever deleted anything off it yet and had no issues. A quick check show's I've currently got 29GB of files on it, which is reasonable enough. (You'll never get exactly 32Gb on the card, due to discrepancies in how space is measured by drive manufacturers 1000 bytes, rather than 1024 bytes as is really used. And because of slack space from filesystem).
It came with a couple of end caps, one with holes so mic can pick up sound, one without that's more waterproof and the one with a USB coming out of it. So, you will have to opt between very waterproof or pick up sound. That said I've been through a few showers for holey cap on the and it's been fine. TBH, in the rain the bigger is issue is rain drops on the lens will make the video unwatchable...
I've been meaning to hard wire it to bike for a while, as a fit and forget solution. Only get an hour off battery.
Quality wise, I haven't found it that bad. Sure, it's only 720p, and not as good as a GoPro or Drift, but not bad at all for price.
I paid £120 for it from Halfords.
Check my blog for some example footage. ____________________ Beginner Biker Adventures Blog

It is a decent camera for just north of £50, but I've yet to see 2 hours out of my SJ1000, from either the supplied battery or the spare that I bought. It's not far off, 1 hour 45 maybe, but you know you'd be SMIDSYd in the last 15 minutes.
It will auto-record when powered, but not while its in its waterproof case. Drilling through the case and adding a bit of silicone sealant might sort that.
Thing is... 4 hours a day, every day? Eff that, that's a quarter of your waking life. You don't get a refund on that time later. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

My drift 720 lasts 2.5 hours roughly spare battery for the way home and it should be fine - what model do you have, are you sure the battery isn't dying/dead'd.
I've used mine in hours of torrential rain without problems - they're considered 'weatherproof' so essentially just don't dunk them in the bath tub or sea |

Um, I have a "Drift HD" and next to the screen it has "HD ) 1080P", not sure if the ) is supposed to be a ) or D.
Perhaps there's some stupid setting that I need to change, what settings do you have? My mic sensitivity is 2/3, remote is off, LCD off after 5 seconds, recording at 720p, 30fps at 50Hz. |

Ah, fair point, I haven't tested the endurance recently. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
