No affiliation, just found it on a gadgety website earlier today.

https://icedot.org/en/products/41-Crash-Sensor

Device connects to your phone, and if you crash (presumably ascertained through a G-Force sensor or similar) it can alert a user defined number via text with geolocation information.

Appears to be marketed towards the non engined bicycle crowd, I think it's a pretty neat idea, if you were to run off the road and be lying in a ditch unconscious/ injured this would at least let somebody know where you were.
£88 isnt that expensive, and it's encouraging to see new 'out there' ideas actually come to market.

Thoughts?

Look at the RealRider app if this appeals.

I think I'll keep the cash in my pocket.

Voice activation via a Bluetooth connection to phone works just as well.

What if you're unconscious?

There are a couple of apps which have various features such as call/text/geolocating in the event of the phone detecting massive acceleration forces (i.e. suddenly stopping as you hit the ground/lamp post/car)

Pretty pointless dialling any number other than the emergency services. I doubt they'll do much though if you don't actually speak to them (because you crashed into a tree and are unconscious).

I won't have to worry then will I... Laughing

I think in 30 odd years I have only ever heard of one person being reported missing and found in a ditch later. That was last year.

I'll take my chances. Karma

This!!

I use it every time I'm out on the bike.

It uses the gyro, gps and accelerometer to recognise when the phone it travelling from 40mph or more to zero suddenly. Eg an off.

If starts making a noise for 20 seconds or something and if you don't deactivate it then it calls the emergency services with your gps location

It's also free for the first year

My GPS tracker can do this, it cost less than £80, and also gives GPS tracking if the bike is nicked.
