Hi lads,

Since I got my bike last year I still haven't got round to fixing this Laughing

And I want to get her back in shape.

It functions perfectly fine, it just sticks out at a funny angle. It looks like the metal bit inside has clipped out and unfortunately it doesn't look possible to just clip it back in. I think it needs a new connection to mate onto?

That looks like a prime candidate for tactical lx tape application. What sort of plastic is it? You could try your hand at plastic welding with a soldering iron maybe?

My approach would be: A single layer of lx tape to get it all roughly in position. Then something to strengthen it across the crack, some lengths of 2mm or so steel wire laying along the stem would do. Then I'd wrap the whole thing with a strong tape like ducktape applied very tightly to wrap the steel wires hard down on the stem. That should give a reasonably strong (if a little pikey) repair.

Haha, good idea, Paddy style.

Thing is, I want this repaired good'n proper to look like it should. I don't know what the best way to do that is Laughing

Scared I'll be bent over taking it to a dealer, but I suppose the worst you can do is ask..

If you're going to tape it then use self amalgamating tape. It chemically binds to itself and provides a waterproof seal.

By the way, complete new unit is £35 on Wemoto. Thumbs Up

Similar thing happened on my CBR - I wedged it back in and eventually found a used one on ebay for a tenner.

Keep looking on there - one will turn up used.
