Hey Guys! I'm currently In the preliminary stages of planning a grand tour of Europe, by bike (obviously). I'm a Canadian student (just finishing high school) with the equivalent of a European A license. Now, I understand that in Europe such a license requires significant significant time investment and several years with an A2 licences. I was hoping to buy a bike in Europe, since I will likely be attending university there. Does anyone know whether or not I will be limited by the restrictions of an A2 licence? Or could I use my Canadian unlimited license to buy the super bike of my dreams? (I'm kidding)

Thanks so much!

If your Canadian licence is unrestricted, you could use that, but it's valid for only 12 months iirc.

As above, i'm pretty sure if its unrestricted in your country, they will recognise it in europe as such too. But only for 12 months, then you either have to pass a european test.. or i think its something like hand in your license for a eu one

You could exchange your Canadian licence for an EU/UK one if you become a UK resident, which I don't think a student visa will grant you.

I'm also not sure whether you would be instantly derestricted or you'll be given the maximum licence you're allowed for your age, as you can't get a unlimited licence instantly in the UK unless you're over 24.
