So my seat lock has got broken buy someone trying to get into it. Dont know why ad theres nothing under there or space for anything. The seat lock has been tottally removed and no lock left in the bike just a hole. But hey wernt able to get into the seat. Now I cant get into the seat and want to change the air filter which I have to do by lifting the seat up. Its a honda cbf....anyine can shed any light onto how I may get into the bike with no lock and the seat has its latch on :/

thanks guys.

Without seeing it it's tricky to say what would be best. I'd imagine that it's designed such that that is the easiest way in, possibly the only. You may need to just start stripping the bike as best you can? I'd be prepared for the need to possibly have to snap a bit or two to get in.
Where are you located?

I have forgotten to reattach the cable on bikes before and locked myself out of seats. Normally the key will twist and turn a cable. You need to try and locate this cable through the fairing/through lifting the seat up and grip it to pull the cable.

Good luck.

I'd try using a bit of stiff wire or thin strip of sheet metal to poke around the latch and hopefully undo it.

if the lock is gone can you see the cable through the hole?
had a similar prob on a salvage r1 just pillion seat so brute force got it off and a heat gun let me melt the plastic back into shape so it fitted well enough to sell on.
but the best way to find how to get the seat off is to see the latch arrangement with the seat off and reverse engineer a fix.
no help i know Smile

You cant get to the cable without taking the rear faring off, but you can't do that without taking the seat off.

Put fingers towards the rear of the seat and a short sharp pull should pop the catch.

You may have to get a new barrel set of locks, and so take your proof of ownership to your nearest friendly & understanding mechanic for help to request a replacement. Also, to open up the seat to install that filter, Sadly, it will cost you money but having it properly secured is better than near none at all..!

Moped's etc have a little cable to open the seat. Or on the Piaggio's there's a little latch you can turn with a flat head or anything you can get in where the barrel was and it pops the seat.

It's hard to say, especially when you haven't provided any pictures. Sounds like the thief couldn't work out how to open it either, if they left empty handed.
