Hi All,

I am new to this forum and I would like to ask for your collective help.

For the purpose of my school project, I would be grateful if you could spare a few minutes to read and complete the following questionnaire on Advanced Stop Lines (ASLs):

https://tinyurl.com/ASLquestionnaire

I am trying to obtain the opinions of different road users, and I have shared this post on trucking and bus forums.

Your input as motorbike drivers would be much appreciated.

The questionnaire will accept responses until the end of May (2014).

Thanks in advance.. Smile

I'd be interested in any research you've done on why cyclists generally ignore the highway code entirely...

I started doing the questionnaire, but some of the questions were so stupid, and the permitted response lists inadequate I couldn't continue. Any academic conclusions drawn from this survey would be flawed and biased by the bad construction of the survey.

3-3 Stopping at an ASL
It is a Motoring Offence in the UK For a Motorist to Enter into the Bicycle Reservoir?

When? red light yes green light obviously know. Badly worded question.

3-4 Encroaching at an ASL *
Under What Circumstances Do You Think You Would Be Most Likely To Encroach (into the Bicycle Reservoir) at an ASL?

When the light is green/amber or to get out out of the way of an asshole or when someone just hit me from behind.

Still have to stop at the first line though... Only thing out of the ordinary here is cyclists should be doing the same...

Do you have a licence
Yes

What type of licence to you hold
Licence to kill

3-2 ASLs and The Highway Code *
Which Statement Best Represents Your Understanding of the Rules for Motorists at ASLs?
They are for cunts on push bikes, cunts who should get a fucking car and fuck off our roads, menaces to society

3-4 Encroaching at an ASL *
Under What Circumstances Do You Think You Would Be Most Likely To Encroach (into the Bicycle Reservoir) at an ASL?
To mow the cunts down as they are only going to fucking bimble across the junction, cause more chaos trying to overtake them again.

5-1 Road Surfacing Colour *
From the pictures below, which road surface colour do you think would best influence your decision making on approach to an ASL?
Blood red, with fluorescent colours so no one knows if there is a dead cyclist in the bike, just merely move across, should probably add some bumps in as well

Thumbs Up

Why do cyclists get priority to the front of the queue anyway?

Surely it would be safer to let the faster moving much wider 2 tonne death machines get a head start so they can cycle freely to their hearts content instead of holding everyone else up.

So i googled my own question and got on the first page "purpose is to give cyclists priority at junctions and making them feel part of the traffic"

So there you have it. Stupid.

According to met police you're allowed to break the law if you're a cyclist, but not a motorcyclist.

Because it's "all about safety" - but apparently not that of motorcyclists, who obviously aren't "vulnerable" enough and should be forced to accelerate past red-light jumping cyclists from between traffic while the police watch Rolling Eyes.

Completed but suggest the wording regarding hierarchy is misleading. Would vulnerable be more suitable?
Best of luck with your qualification though.

I did complete it, but your questions and fixed choices were poorly written thought out. I wouldn't have got away with that kind of shoddiness when I was in college. Smile

I find minicabs usually aren't even able to stop themselves before the ASL either and end up crawling halfway through the junction waiting for the lights to change.

In principle they're good for bicycles, but they ought to have a 10 second headstart to clear the junction before the "cyclist killing machines" are let lose... urban fox hunting... release the cyclists before you set the dogs on them.

I thought them red box were for 'motorycle drivers' like me to use so I could get away from the lights a bit sharpish and let the drivers kill the cyclists in peace
I'd be skidding in all the blood n guts otherwise
