Aside from EBay and scumtree, are there any decent used bike sites that aren't full of traders with inflated prices?
I would have thought this would be a good time of year to buy, when people sell their current bikes for something new at the start of the season.
I've looked on bike trader which is 95% traders asking laughable prices, and MCN bikes which don't seem to get updated that often.

All bikes are overpriced at this time of year, better looking at the end of the season as most for sale are people bored with biking or just needing money.

Pistonheads is a good place to look too.

Got my last bike, a commuter, at short notice by seeing it on the notice board at local supermarket. Got my lad's the same way.

It is worth keeping a look out. Right place at the right time and all that.

Also local bike meet places (eg Squires) have for sale boards and often bikes parked up with for sale info on them.

Preloved tend to have mostly private sellers on, if you want to connect to a new ad you do have to pay a fiver (I think) to register, but I bought my last bike off it and was well worth the outlay, I would imagine that this may put a few buyers off as well so you can get in quick on a good deal once you've registered

If you get any bike magazines the Classified section (usually at the back) can be a good source of used bikes at reasonable prices.

Thanks, I am on preloved too.
Might just buy an sv650 or something then sell it winter 2015 then hopefully get a cheap deal on what I really want (Honda shadow, vl800 or Dragstar 650/1100) all of which are at daft prices at the moment. Even private sellers I've seen relist on eBay as they're too greedy to sell for any less.
Sv650s on the other hand seem a lot more common and fall well within my budget (£3000 absolute Max)

There's loads of Dragstars for at or under your budget on Ebay.

There are a lot yea, but most have been hammered and are in bad nick. An sv650 is quite tempting anyway as they're much cheaper and it would be a new experience I guess

As bad as they appear to be standard, I have one now and yeah, sounds nice.

Is that can welded on Paddy? Seem to remember having that done to mine as the original can was all part of a full, one piece system or something.

Bitter man, bitter! Laughing
Still, it'll make a useful crash bung Wink

There was some reason I couldn't just easily fit a slip-on. Something about the standard rig on SVs.
