Just a little heads-up for new ER6F owners...

So, the widest part of my ER6F 2014 is the fecking mirrors. Getting the bike about with them is absolutely fine but getting the bike into the doors at work is TIGHT. I have to tuck them right in to fit. I (being a bit of a tit,) did not think that the mirror would be close enough to engage the front brake. Yup, bike buckeroo took place. Luckily im of a reasonable strength and managed to gently lay the bike down as I dismounted and then picked it up. Tiny little bump on the mushroom where I laid it down but nothing other than that thankfully.

Lesson learnt - Don't tuck your mirrors in, tuck them out! - On the ER6F it gets right in the way of the clutch and brake. Tuck them out! - Didn't occur to me but you can bend them to face forwards with the bike.

Oh, and if you have fairings, buy mushrooms. 100% saved me a few hundred quid to replace a cracked fairing!

FWIW, dropping the ER6f from a stop or at slow speed will not normally crack the fairing. It will scratch, and may bend a mount or two. Also the control levers will usually get bent, as may the handlebars. But the fairing won't normally crack.

Source: my GF has dropped hers 4 times.

Exactly that. Except I was filtering through a door haha. Heart-in-mouth. Fucking stupid design to be honest, they should either lock in place so they stop before where the levers are or be in a different position.

I've noticed the same OP, it's pretty tight when getting the bike into your work doo....I mean my garden gates, and it's a pain in the arse to control the bike with the mirrors folded in forwards. I twigged on to pushing them out a wee while ago too, makes it much easier Thumbs Up

Did the same thing and couldnt work out why it wasnt moving while I pushed it. Find if you steer the bike towards one side of the door, get one mirror through then lean it the other way you can negotiate a normal door with minimal effort and maintain your mirror positions.

Galling when you drop a bike at a standstill isn't it Sad

I dropped my Sprint in an even more retarded way than what you've done there - rolling back off a driveway and put my boot down not realising I'd gone past the edge of the kerb, so it was 8 inches further down than I expected to be. Put me off balance, bike still rolling ever so slightly, loss of control, leg folded up underneath bike, 'no, no No, NOOOOOO' Laughing

Mine didn't snap the fairing, but it did snap the little plastic 'engine cover' strip. You'd think that's not the end of the world but then when they're £35 for a new one, and no less than £2 for each spring washer and rubber mount (both a quarter the size of a penny) it really did rather pee me off Laughing

Haha glad to see im not the only knobber having problems with these mirrors! Wink Such a silly way to drop a bike, I would have been seriously gutted if I had done any damage to it.

Upside is, bikes now been dropped so the thought in the back of your head asking Would I be able to pick it up if I dropped it?' has been answered!

Closest I came was putting it up on the rear axle stand, sat on the floor to start cleaning the chain, wasnt aligned properly so when i rotated the rear wheel it pushed the L plate and the whole things started falling away from me. Managed to get hold of the grab rail and some bodywork. Whole thing tilted away from me 45degrees while still sitting on the ground left in a Italian job style cliffhanger with any further movement likely to tip it Shocked

Bring back ZZR mirrors, I adjust mine slightly by clipping the back of shipping containers while filtering Smile
