So, after much deliberation and a few test rides, I bought this brand new 2014 CBR 600RR Very Happy Very Happy
https://imgsharer.eu/uploads/91/10151830_101541_1399719896.jpg

I had the choice between repsol and black at the same price, but I chose black because I'd look a little less of a dick... £225 p/m hire purchase for 40 months, but I'll pay it off sooner than that.

I really didn't like the Ducati 899, far too small and plastics just seemed crap.. but as soon as I sat on the Honda it felt familiar and is quite a bit bigger (I'm 6ft1 so don't want to 'perch' on top of the bike).

So far, love it! Just taking it slow until I'm past the 300 mile mark. It doesn't seem super fast tbh, definitely faster than the old 600F I had, but it's manageable speed and I reckon it'll be good fun once I go past 7k. It redlines at 15k and goes up to 17k Shocked

Sweet Thumbs Up

That map holder(?) and the bungees are gonna mark the paint used like that. Get yourself one of those bike blanket/wonderweb things to protect it.

Liking it in all black/stealth mode but think the headlights look a lot nicer on the blade rather than on the 600rr. Something just doesn't look right with it in my mind.

Nope, standard UK model. Not only are the reflectors there too but when you turn it on both the indicator lights are constantly on... "to make you more visible" I was told.

I didn't like the headlights at first but they've grown on me. Possibly because I'll be paying it off for a little while so I *have* to like it, but still Smile

Yeah I can see more and more weird and wonderful headlight designs coming out as everyone has done the fox eye thing to death now and there's a race to make things edgier and sharp.

The front end looks minging. Like the bikes though!

I'd be querying the lights and reflectors myself...its just not something I've seen before.

Nice bike. I just ordered the 899.

£225 p/m sounds a bit steep, but I am guessing you did not put down much of a deposit?

I remember reading that there's some law changed somewhere which means that manufacturers don't have to differentiate between their models and can have one bike that can be imported into both Europe and the US of A. Is it legal to take the reflectors off? Dunno.

On the Honda website they list the kerb weight of the 600RR as only 4kg less then the fireblade! So why bother with the highly turned 600cc when they could have just put a detuned fireblade motor in which would have saved them all the development costs of the 600?

I guess it couldn't compete in any racing classes but it would have probably made a better road bike.
Quite like the look of the 600 anyway, even the headlights. Looks better in HRC colours though Smile

congrats on the bike but its fucking ugly!

who designed it the bloody thing, Stevie Wonder?

from 2004-2006 the honda cbr600rr and 1000rr were one of the most beautiful looking bikes ever everything after that just started looking bad just like the big bang R1s and suzuki GSXR1000's but the GSXR600 & 750's look great tho

dont take offence mate at my words you could have done worse and given the bike a middle earth theme like me...

Reflectors came on my old 11 plate KTM 690, probably just stick them on all models to save time. As for indicators staying on, the honda grom does the same thing, I wouldn't have thought it was legal in this country but it must be.

Seems to be the way it's going. My Trophy has the front amber and also red reflectors on the sides of the panniers at the back which I thought was illegal.

Yours is a nice looking bike though. I much prefer the plainer colours to the Repsol as well. Thumbs Up

Nice bike!

At £225 per month, I'm guessing you put about £99 down or nothing?

They call THAT a safety feature? Thats likely to get a car pulling out in front of you thinking you are turning. Thats shocking.

This still worries me but no need to elaborate now.

These indicators always on thing for me is plainly fucking dangerous and I'd sort it promptly.

It's happening more and more with some makes of cars, Volvo and Vauxhalls spring to mind with their "day (but dim) running lights"

I can't tell you the number of times not only my own students but witnessing other road users pulling out in front of bikes/cars fitted with this shit.

Learner or car driver sits waiting to enter roundabout, looks right, see's the orange or white light the size of an indicator, it simply computes in their tiny heads it's a flashing light so you're taking the exit before them and they start to pull out.

We do not live in the US, Norway or any other "dark for six months" country. I believe these orange always on are Federal corner markers. Remember they don't use amber flash as a signal, we do.

Black definitely better than Repsol in my book Thumbs Up Like that "open-mouthed snarl" thing the front light does in profile. Enjoy and try not to fall off immediately. Very Happy
