Just buy up all the Cagiva Raptors and re-badge them. Best use of the TL engine anyone's put together, light nimble, actually handles and actually looks quite modern in the space age idiom of the latest offerings.

no, they should bring out the TL again, so 'hard' people could buy one and know someone who got killed because they were 'widow makers'

Apparently a lot of it was down to chain tension and rider weight. If the chain tension was too high then the swinging arm wouldn't use its full travel and would lock out at a certain point causing a tankslapper. This was OK if you were heavy as the tankslapper would be mild, However if the rider was a 10 stone weakling like me the tankslapper would be uncontrollable.

I don't think Suzuki should build an SV1000 or a TL1000. They need to build something to make them money. They've done very little development lately and are lagging behind in lots of areas. They need to ditch the glaydius and build a few learner legal bikes for A2 and more importantly a decent 125 to sell in global markets.

IMO they should ditch the GSX1250, GSX650, the GSR600 and all of their budget bikes and make a modern better looking SV650 and an SV400 for A2 license holders, make a GSXR1000 with 200bhp and TC, make the GSXR750 up to the same power as the outgoing 1000 and build a decent cheapish sports tourer.

IMO they are circling the drain and need to do something drastic to catch up with Kawasaki and maybe even Yamaha and possibly Honda.

I have to agree! The Suzuki range for some time has been a little boring and un-imaginative IMO. Possibly they have gone lazy or are holding back from developing new models that grab people like Yamaha are doing etc.

The GSR750 was always a disappointment for me. Style wise I don't think it's half as nice as a Yamaha FZ6. I bet the 600cc Yam could well be nicer and more fun to ride with that zingy R6 motor whizzing away too! I'm guessing here also that the GSR could never even keep a middleweight performance naked like the Triumph Street 675 in sight on a fun road?

Also whatever happened to the B-king? I know they watered it down from the concept and it lost the blower, but did they ever sell any? And were they any good to ride? I expect that it could have been Suzuki's chance to outmuscle the V-max, but I've never seen a B-king on u.k roads, so there must be a reason why they are not popular?

The original TL came with 120 bhp and a rear swinging arm that locked up under acceleration / bumps. Not helped by a 'rotary damper' that didn't.
Later models went back to a sensible combined shock / spring unit, better rear geometry and lost 20bhp to make it all a little more controllable.
Fat, long and not very quick in speed or handling. Like I say, the Raptor has none of those problems and a full fat engine.

Only if the chain was over tightened. If left with 30mm of play it won't "lock up"

Nope they didn't. The rear damper and geometry stayed the same. They added a steering damper to control tank slappers. It lost 4 bhp n the first 3 gears. Easily removed with a tre.

Fat. Yes. Long. No. Slow. No. Slow handling? Not really. Odd yes.

I will put money on my tl beating a raptor hands down.
