Well i have just been looking for insurance quotes, for a zxr400. I put in my own postcode, and got £1800 fully comp, with 2 years NCB. I put in my grandparents postcode, and it came up as £1200. They live about 10 miles away. Can i get away with using their adress on the policy or not???

If your bike got stolen from your home address you probably wouldn't get paid out.

Why do you want fully comp?

At that price it's a false economy.. will probably end up costing you more in the long run, even if the bike gets stolen!

You'd be hard pushed to use it, well you can get an insurance policy using it with no real problems but if you have to claim from that insurance policy then you'll then be a bit fucked.

They'll want to see either when you take the policy out or definately when you try to claim all your paperwork, so your driving license. Your driving license has your address on it, they'll be interested as to why it does not match the address wehre you've told them that you live. If you bike gets nicked from your home (ie, the address which matches the one on your driving license and all other paperwork in the world) then you'll be very fucked very quickly.

It could be slightly more likely to be possible if you'd be able to actually claim (and have your grand parents back you up) that you were (or the bike was) living with your grand parents but I still can't see it working very well if the insurance company even slightly look at a claim of yours.

I find this extremely unuseful in a position like mine.

I live away from home term time (okay, full stop, but regularly go back for periods) and my drivers license is registered at my home address. And my bike is insured for "term time address". And CIA won't accept it.

Thing is, I move every year, so got to amend my details every year?? ffsake.... Evil or Very Mad

Unlesse you're particularly rich; are you actually getting new quotes from other companies everyear?
Doing that is a load more hassle than telling the insurance companies that you have moved house, but is has usually saved me a couple of hundred quid... which isn't to be sniffed at for me Smile.
