Sickening.

Fortunately he seems to be improving in hospital and breathing on his own.

A reminder of just how dangerous road racing is, (officially sanctioned or otherwise)

The guy grabbing his kid and hugging him made it feel a lot worse too. the sound from the video was probably nowhere near as bad as what they heard/felt of the impact

Amazing footage. Think he's very lucky to have gone up the kerb just where it ramps as opposed to a foot left in to solid kerb stone. Seems like he is doing alright though.

Shocked

Blimey. I think perhaps he ought to take up a new sport. No doubting his pace, he just appears to attract injury.

Shit, pretty horrible to watch. I really hope he recovers, if he survives this, it will literally be by a margin of a few millimetres, a few more to the left and the impact would have probably been much harder.

Yeah he was lucky, or unlucky, if he'd just slid down the road he could have got away without serious injury.

Not sure what happened before the crash, to cause it, or in the immediate aftermath, but its not normal to slide on your front like that. Looks like he could well be out cold already, no sign of consciousness

Sad news. Sad
Life is quite cheap in road racing. I can see at some point in the future that they will possibly ban it.
I'm all for dangerous activities but don't think I'd fancy road racing because of the massive risks involved. Still I wouldn't support a ban as others should be given the choice however suicidal it seems.

RIP Si.

A sad but not uncommon occurrence in road racing.

But hopefully it won't give much ammo to the critics or lead to road racings demise... The riders are under no illusions that every time they set off down the streets there is a high chance it could be the last time.

It's not unnecessarily dangerous to spectators, and nobody is forced to race, attend, or watch on tv/follow in the news, so my view is road racing should continue, as it has done for a long time.

Hopefully rider protection will see a decrease in these sad events, but I hope the powers that be don't interfere with the racing.

Pathetic, steal a video and feed off the perverse popularity and morbid fascination of a dead person.

Thats probably the second nastiest motorcycle accident I have seen in sport. It'll go with the Marco one. I have watched it once. I never want to see it again.

RIP Simon.

What's with all the pansies requesting the video be taken down?

Surely he knew the risks going in...
I find it hard to believe he didn't ever consider the fact that one day this could happen, and that it would 100% be recorded, and shared.
That being said it was his choice.
Actions, consequences.

Unless he was your personal idol, I don't understand the devastation over his death either, he was just another man.
Would you have mourned as much if he was one of the shitter riders?
...I sincerely doubt it.

I don't think there is any devastation over his death on here, it happens. Merely people acknowledging that its unfortunate and not very nice.
He wasn't really one of the top riders but one I'd heard of, it would obviously be harder to feel any emotion for somebody you never knew existed.
