I was cycling and walking everywhere, to and from work and I was knackered the whole time from it. Cycling back from town one day (handles had the shopping bags hanging from them) and I saw a 'ped, started looking into it, four months later I got one, and now I want a Bandit 6! Thumbs Up

I'd never quite got round to paying hundreds of pounds for driving lessons and tests and things, then my brother got his bike, so I decided to spend a couple of grand on getting all of my stuff. It was probably the not having to pass driving tests to learn to ride that swung it really though.

Passed my CBT and DAS so I could start doing courier work to keep myself going during the knowledge, but when I ditched the job and the knowledge I was left with a love of bikes, so I kept on riding.

It was cheaper than the tube and cheaper than trying to insure/park my car when I moved to London. So necessity at first, but now it's just for fun.

Unless you are riding a pink Chopper with streamers from the handlebars, ande a care bear in a front shopping basket (also pink) why are you embarrased?

I just fell in love... my neighbour had a vfr750 which I used to see parked outside his place, I loved the look of it. And then we went on a family holiday to Skye and there were lots of bikes about... I just thought it looked cool!

A friend got a RS50, I thought Arrow "Wow I can have one of these now, damn its sexy." Drooling I wanted one when I turned 16 but my dad said no, you're to fat . ( I was about 20 stone at the time.)
For a year I pestered him for a bike but he always said no.
In the end it came down to about a month before my 17th birthday and he was offering me a car, I was offered a brand new Seat Ibiza and cars along the lines of that
"No, I want a bike."
I looked into it allot myself and decided a 400 was the best route, Went through all the 400's that I liked:

Arrow ZXR
Arrow VFR
Arrow CBR
Arrow FZR

But in the end decided that all of them looked old except the ZXR so that was then what I wanted. Smile
I was then looking for a ZXR for £2000 but was considering more to get a new black one. Looking at Ebay one day I saw one I loved, I bid on it and won. Very Happy
Well the bike was about a 3 hours drive so we went up that weekend to collect it. Got there and it wouldn't start Confused Sad We made a deal to go back the weekend after if they had it fixed and knocked £100 off, They got it fixed. Thumbs Up I went and got it. Never had a problem since. Very Happy

My dad had bikes for years, he eventualy stopped rideing... buying one was an absoloute no, not much they could say when i'd got home smelling of petrol and exhaust fumes haveing just purchaced my cg.

I'd occasionally go for ride on the back when he had his last one, a CD175! blimeh... it was a 15minute ride to where he did some gardening every week, i'd help him out sweeping up to 30/40 bin bags at a time of wet leaves in the rain, i got pocket money yeh, but i was only really bothered about haveing another go on the bike Smile

At school a couple of mates got bikes, one had a cg125 and the other a speed flight, had a go on both, tazing arround a deserted car park in the middle of the night, gliggleing like a luatic at 20mph, took a friend on the back within 3 minutes and she screamed her head off as we pootled allong...

I could never understand why people get obsessional about their cars/bikes or whatever... its very clear now though...

None of the options in the poll. One of my brother's friends offered to take me on the back of his RGV250 one day and after that, I was hooked!

Always had dirt bikes as a kid (first 50 at 8 yo) so was natural to get one on the road when I was old enough. Although I did leave it until I was 20......

My big brother has had a bike since he was 15.(long before I was born) Once I was old enough to hold on He took me for short runs. I now take my oldest daughter up & down the road and am teaching her to use the clutch(she can't reach the pegs to chage gear, but she can use the clutch and front brake. Most of her school friends asked santa for roller skates. She asked for a helmet.
