I am a college student who is really interested in bikes. I really want to get into racing street bikes. My parents will not help me get a bike and I am on little income. I heard that you can pick up street bikes cheap at auctions but dont know where to go or anything about these auctions. I was wondering if anybody knows about these auctions and where I can go to go to one. I am located in the Fairfax,DC area. Also after I get a bike I need to find an experienced that can really help a need rider grasp the whole bike riding. If anyone can help please do.

This is generally a UK based forum.
But I suspect the same will be true anywhere; you really need to know what you're doing at auctions; otherwise you may well end up with a total dog.

Sorry can't help here.

But I will add that an experienced rider will not turn you into Rossi over night.

Biking is all about experience and learning from your own mistakes.

Bear that in mind, and good luck with finding the right bike for you.

He couldn't be more right. Your idea of the skill needed to ride a powerful bike fast, let alone on the limit, seems to be a bit off the mark. If you have no experience riding at all then you'll probably find that it's a lot different than what you'd expect and getting to a competitive level really takes years of experience and proper training and of course starting from the bottom. Enthusiasm helps, but you're looking at an expensive, long-term commitment here.
