...but what's a B-axis. As in

A quick google gives me:

"A rotational axis describing motion around the Y-axis."

Which I think is that extra drill spinning thing that comes in and works around at the top.

EDIT: Actually I have no idea Laughing . Apparently there's an A-axis and C-axis too, for X and Z rotation respectively.

I would guess the B-axis is the lathe spinner thing and the other axes are the spinning moving milling arm thing.

Yep B is rotation of the tool head (around Y). A is rotation of the workpiece (around X). And C is rotation of the workpiece or head around Z.

And there is also a U-axis. (Which my new machine has got!)

U axis controls ^ those types of tools. You can lock the X-axis, and turn using another spindel (So the tool can go bigger or smaller!)

*(Really cant explain very well, learnt it all in german!)*

All this stuff is way beyond my understanding. I have no idea what was being made but watching that is so much fun. Its strangely hypnotic watching the little bits of metal flying away as the machine makes holes, lines etc. Thumbs Up
